I was hoping to remember 2005 as the year Sadaam Hussein was found Guilty, hanged on the anniversary of 9/11, drawn and quartered, and his head placed on a pike in Baghdad.
Since that is not going to happen, I will remember to pray for the poor people of New Orleans who were left high-and-dry by their Mayor, their Governor and all the slime-ball city-servants sworn to preserve and protect them until George Bush finally came to their rescue and sent the cavalry to help them.

the choice of love or money (took wrong choice- love): love is an illusion, money at least stays in your pocket for a short time.
time and evil heals deep wounds.

All in all the good memories fade away and the bad ones haunt you for the rest of your life.

The sweetest words of pen and ink
Are not "I love you" as some men think.
There are far sweeter words, by heck
That say "Enclosed, please find a check."

I'm with Lecri in that I think I'll most remember what I've done for myself! I've made some difficult decisions this year but I can honestly say that I like myself and am happier than I've been in a looooong time.

I finally remembered where I hid those easter eggs back in 2002. My apologies to the Vatican janitor's closet.

Hi folks, MD newbie here. Interesting thread. When I wrote my holiday letter this year I had a hard time remembering it all. Now that the year is on its way out it's rather surreal and almost fun to read the list:
January: kitchen plumbing replaced
Grandmother died (96, so it was ok)
Two friends lost husbands
Twice-released squirrel decides to come inside for good
February: Replaced washer
Surgery
March: Replaced roof
Diagnosed with cancer
Spring baby season starts
April/May: Juggle doctor appointments, work, babies
June: Surgery (successful)
Meet a great guy from Germany
July: Replace air conditioner
Order first set of replacement windows
August: Huge tree limb lands on house (roof and new a/c unit escape unscathed)
Fall baby season starts
September: Great guy goes back to Germany
November: Toronto trip
Surgery ("minor")
December: Replace furnace
Order rest of the windows
Go on IV antibiotics for infection at one surgical site
Cord finally snaps on 12' living room window blinds, order replacement window treatment
Ceiling in bedroom leaking (ice dam)
I guess that years from now I'll mostly remember that I survived it all!
S.n.

I will remember how much I grew as a person. I will remember that it wasnt a bad year, or a good year.. But an OUSTANDING year. For I learned more about who I am and who I want to be.
I will remember the loss the world has suffered and the friends I have made.
I will remember that it was one more year that I was able to enjoy the company of my family, ( even if my uncle moved to the other side of the country
I will also remember what wonderful people there are in the world.

The year I moved to Florida, bought a motorcycle, changed jobs, made new friends, and just generally turned my whole world upside down.
The year I got off my butt and out of my rut.

I never thought I would live long enough to see 2005. It has been a rough year but I did have a little bit of fun in the end.
Maybe 2006 will be rockin'

Hope so Warrior, for all of us!
For me, it was a very mixed bag. Second year of my second life, or so it feels since coming here from NY. Definitely some roller coaster rides along the way, but I'll take that over boring any day. You can't appreciate the high points if you don't ever have to endure the bummers. Met some great people here on MD and still hope to get to meet at least some of you in person!
Happy everything, especially 2006 to all!

The year I moved for a change of job and to be with my sweetheart... also the year I found out I am going to have a grandson next March(I have two grand daughters now)... and the biggest reason I will remember 2005... my sweetheart asked me to marry him and I said YEEESSSSSSSSSSSS
