Which IM do you prefer and why?
I have tried AOL, ICQ, MSN, Trillian and Yahoo. Now I only use Yahoo. I loathe AOL and ICQ and I dislike MSN because it will not allow me to archive my IM. My only complaint about Yahoo now is that it limits the number of friends that I can have.  On the other hand, it does allow me to archive my conversations and that is useful when you have a memory like mine.  I almost never use the MatchDoctor IM, so I don't know how effective it is yet.

i yahoo, too. loathe is pretty strong, but i can certainly understand. i like how the icq messenger window looks, but that's about it. i didnt know yahoo restricted how many friends u could have. eek!
msn makes me work 2 hard, n their emoticons r just funky looking. i do like the fist that knocks on the screen 2 get ur attention. again, it isn't enough 2 keep all of that stuff on the puter.  and trillian is plain annoying.
yahoo is easier to use, less effort n most of my buddies r there, too.

Tried Skype? www.skype.com
It is a messenger and VoiP in one. I've had GREAT success using it for long distance calling and now thats all I use. I bought a $10 calling card from them and have barely put a dent in it. I call my folks several times a week now.
2 users of Skype can talk for free or you can call a regular phone for very cheap per minute charge.

Once you have 300 people in your buddy list, Yahoo will not allow you to add any more.  I am planning to create a new Yahoo ID soon and transfer a few selected friends to that ID.

oh yeah. i 4get that i have skype. it is pretty good. i can talk all round the world 4 free. 
Those smileys do look wierd...
yeah, n i used 2 use aol when i worked @ mci; maybe that's y i hate it. lol. icq hardly had any traffic. no wonder they have such time 2 pretty up the IM window. trillian works a little better than b4, but one of the messengers always screw up, so i left it alone. btw, u can call ppl using yahoo as a phone, 2. it rings any way u like, n u can leave a msg.

I generally just use the windows messenger. I have yahoo messenger but I mostly just use it for the e-mail alert.
I only use the windows messenger because it makes for a much clearer conversation between myself and a friend in Russia. It's pretty tough to clarify a week old answer to a two week old question.

I only use Yahoo messanger but am rarely on it seeing that I usually go online at work and they took my messanger away lol and most people just add me to there list and I never hear from them again.

I use Yahoo IM also. MSN always freezes up my pc so I dont use it anymore. I keep my buddy list down to a minimum these days. Respomd or be deleted IM message helps lmao .
