Dontcha hate it when that happens?
Can't blame the sites, it's the people on them, and they're (we're) NOT all like that, I guess it just feels that way if you hit a string of, well, losers?
Hang in there...same thing happens IRL too, or we wouldn't all be looking, would we? (Some of us are looking, anyway...lots of us are here to visit with friends)
Better luck next time Olds...!

Heaven is right. Not everyone is that way. But, maybe you could take a look at what you have been "going after."
Not everyone is false.

I tend to think of the sites like the Seregeti plains in Africa. I watched a National Geographic feature recently which makes me think that we (dating site patrons) are more like the spotted hyenas scavenging for meat scraps while the lions get all the best meat. After all, it is they that are the skillful hunters and get the best.
Life (and dating in particular) is nature. Ask yourself - what can I do to make myself more like the lion? Maybe you are just destined to be a hyena or maybe even further down the chain as a vulture.

One commonality I've noticed about dating sites is the high number of sport daters. The intoxication factor of meeting a new person, taking the new relationship to a prescribed comfort level, ending it when said relationship becomes "too real", then going back to the well where the grass is greener. Rinse and Repeat.
Ironically time never stands still while the neverending search becomes the final outcome for many.
It's a safe existence.

I like to think that I am on a dating site because I refuse to settle for "scraps" and limit myself to local men. As one that is willing to relocate, the possibilities are endless.
And the people on MD are far from scraps.

i agree with it's not the sites....
but maybe we just need to be a little more real with our own wants or wish list...
we all have a right to our wants and the above was said as a possibility and not pointed at any one person.......

My analogy was in reference to the people searching for a partner rather than those that have had success in finding one and those that have remained married or are in enduring relationships ................... so who's left over to sort through the leftovers? Dating site patrons still picking through the remains.

I don't have too much of a want or wish list.
I just don't buy into the concept that those of us still single are "scraps" to be devoured by the first scavenger to happen by.

I propose a toast to my fellow misfits. (holds cuppa Starbucks Sulawesi Dark Roast high in the air) "May we never settle for 4th or 5th best, while 2nd or 3rd best is still out there. . . somewhere. . . CHEERS!"

Cheers!
But I have to "settle" for # 1, but my #1 may not be another's.

That's the aspect of internet dating. The possibilities are endless, but the results are always the same. You have people that are always looking to "upgrade".

I agree that there will always be those looking to "upgrade", but there are also those who are looking for someone with the same heart and who walk the same path.

Dating sites are made of people the same people you can find in your daily life....... there are good people and bad people as usual and as everywhere Watch out when you choose !
Some profiles could be false, ok when you talk with these people and you can recognize their insincerity and you can say "goodbye"..... I think that bad aspects often come to the surface......
........but when you meet good people, and good people really exist here, keep close to them

You have people that are always looking to "upgrade". It is also said: That water seeks it's own level.
This analogy suggest that people who consider themselves better that average will only date the like and not occupy themselves with someone of lower standards. Basically, they have no business fraternizing or exploring the likes of someone out of their league.

Not much in writing anything here. Most just see my pic and move on anyway.Just a nice normal guy looking for someone to become friends with and see where it goes from there. Gotta point out when you have negativity in your profile not very many people are going to be willing to try talking to you also when your expectations and your want list do not match what you are offering ...well you have to expect to be disappointed from time to time
and now to echo some of the thoughts here.. I am not scraps TYVM ( ALWAYS) I am an individual who can find beauty and love in almost anything and am looking for the one who wiill find the same in me with the same desires .. with there being so many people in this world finding a match can be a daunting thing.. but I have many friends on dating sites that have done just that ...they have found their someone and it gives me hope that there is a someone out their for me ... maybe its just the way of life for some of us to have to search harder to find THE one so that we appreciate them that much more
but I will say.. with such a defeatist attitude you will not go far in your search you yourself are balking any advancement I have seen time and again when someone is a naysayer they will stay that way ... but those who keep the hope alive find their mates with much more ease
