It's funny when there is so much good in a piece the things some people will choose to argue with to dismiss the whole thing. BTW Making coffee in the buff isn't the only thing I do that way, but I doubt that is enough for you in my case

but I doubt that is enough for you in my case

I think you are correct...in this case.

To me, she was a great example of a woman who was everything I aspired to be - loving, responsible, intelligent and tough. She could also stand up to anybody on earth, without ever getting down in the gutter. My kind of lady!

Imo you succeeded in being this woman and then some

Proverbs also said, "It is far better for a man to live alone in the darkest, dampest corner of a basement, than with a woman in a new house." So take what you like.

SunnyBabe and others, you might not like it, but I don't go in there to buy anything other than a sandwich at lunchtime because of that and after working on the owner's house a couple of weeks ago, he gave me a free lunch ticket that I haven't even used yet There is a good reason I am looking for someone thin. Most thicker people like the big teddy bear hug that I can't give them and thinner people are use to feeling some bones (not just the growing one ) when hugging, cuddling and etc. and know how to deal with it without complaining all of the time. I'm kind of stuck with being thin myself because the only place I put on significant weight is on my belly and it looks real goofy. Now that I'm older I have to watch myself so that doesn't become a major problem. Also, for all of you thick people, I have endured plenty of thin jokes throughout my life, but never on the job, because I have always held my own against the "normals" Now you know even more about me than you ever wanted to

I've been reading this post (thru thick and thin)...you've mentioned the bible, gays, a coffee house and a dank basement (I'm not even gonna mention the house)....what's the topic again? Do I have to watch this again on the 11 o'clock news?

Gee, I thought you were going to tell us that's why he's the one who makes the coffee...

He does. And the wine, too.

just reading this I thru I found a few things that caught my eye...

The last thing I need is a woman on the other end of a 6x12 beam, or a woman carrying 3 or 4 studs at a time instead of 8, or a woman helping to lift a wall. It's bad enough trying to move a piece of furniture with a woman. It takes longer and it costs more in the long run. In the world of business, those are the two things that make all of the difference; time and mone

you aren't serious are you?? On many a job I have been on I OUTWORKED and OUTPACED the so called MEN and was duly compensated for it .. from being on the tire line at Sears ...to putting a copper roof on a restaurant and hauling the copper covered shingles up a ladder bundles at a time.. to building a cinder block wall .. to carrying copper pipe up three flights of stairs a bundle at a time...to helping raise walls on total remodel ...to putting stock away in a hdwe store..to carrying any number of automotive parts including transmissions etc to CARRYING said lumber and NOT being the one to have to STOPPPP and rest ... your assumption about the abilities of women is laughable...just because we are perceived as the weaker sex and ask for help at times does NOT mean we could not accomplish the task without a man its just called working SMARTER not HARDER ... not muscling it around (which btw I can do too ask anyone who has met me)

now for the other one

feminism goes much further in trying to promote the feminine and eliminate the masculine.

umm if you eliminate one doesn't that eliminate both since they are the opposite of one another?? kinda like if you eliminate evil and only have good how would be able to tell the difference they would essentially merge into one right??so your thoughts of feminism trying to eliminate the masculine is kinda off huh because by doing so feminism would be eliminating itself

~grin~ Now THAT'S a REAL woman! ...and to know her in person, you'd see she's 110% sexy and yep, "feminine".

becky I qualified my statements with generally speaking. There is always going to be an exception to the rule, especially when someone like you is out to prove a point because you are motivated by a greater agenda in your mind. Any example I use will have someone like you saying "I can keep up and I can beat 'em". That means nothing to what I am saying when you look at the whole picture.

Eliminating the opposite of something doesn't eliminate both. Where do you get that unless it's the other side of the coin, for example? Trying to make the sexes more alike by trying to meet in the middle is not ever going to work in the long run and it's foolish to think it will and that it would be a good thing in the first place.

If you see a man throw a woman to the ground and beat her, is he doing wrong? Objectively, yes. If her clothing's on fire and he's trying to put out the fire, is he still doing wrong? Subjectively, not really.

Absolutely horrid example. Most people that can see or think can discern when an issue is right or wrong and it is not done through a subjective view point. If the woman is being beaten and she is not on fire then it is obviously wrong. If she is being put out because she is on fire then she is not being beaten at all but helped. Both views are not subjective they are objective and subject to reasonable views of reality.

Now in many other countries that are not the US if a woman is being beaten the event is ignored and it is accepted as just another day for a woman beating. This is wrong as well and not subjective at all even though those societies accept such behavior. No right are wrong are not subjective at all unless someone does not want to acknowledge that good and evil, right and wrong exist at all. People like that can't be counted on and never take a stand because they never really know what is what since everything is subjective.

"It is far better for a man to live alone in the darkest, dampest corner of a basement, than with a woman in a new house."

Actually you left off a very important key word here "CONTENTIOUS". That brings a whole new meaning to your slightly inaccurate quote. Incidentally there are about 20 proverbs about nags, and contentious women FYI.

Well Becky, good hunting. I'm glad someone found that comment

or a woman helping to lift a wall. It's bad enough trying to move a piece of furniture with a woman. It takes longer and it costs more in the long run.

From a woman who has fixed up the last four of her homes by herself, I find that to be humorous. I think it's sad that there are still men that feel threatened by a savvy, handy, and independant woman. Trust me boys, it doesn't make your penis any smaller for us to be good at what we do.

And I think it is also why so many women are choosing to stay single longer. We will not settle for less than a man who can see us as being all woman, yet are proud of our accomplishments.
