i was at my favorite tackle shop it is in a strip mall next door is a skate shop as i walk out to me car there were 3 young men about 18 to twenty years old sitting on the hood of my car.(with their skate boards on my car) I asked them very politely to please get off of my vehicle which they did but not before one of them scraped my paint with his board. At this point i asked the young man what he was going to do about the large scratch he left in my paint? His reply was that it wasn't his problem and to Fck off.i told them i was calling the police as i was reaching for my cell one of the three young men lifted his skate board and came at me as if to strike me.Without hesitation i hit him with a heart punch that stopped him in his tracks as the other young men came towards me i told them they have no idea what they are getting into and step off and leave it alone.About that time a police officer showed up and things cooled off.I do feel guilty about having to hurt the first young man (i really do not like violence ).how you any of you have handled this different was i too abrubt with my reaction?

Well, you defended yourself...you didn't really have a choice-he could have cracked open your skull.

Sorry about your car

Did the police get his name and number to contact parents?

I think you did what needed to be done at the moment. The kid's lucky. Moving towards you with the skateboard raised in a threatening manner could have gotten him shot instead of just a punch. Most states now have concealed carry and "stand your ground" laws. Nobody wants to be put in a situation where they feel they have to defend themselves, but it seems to be happening more and more often. Not being prepared for the possibility and being willing to act is more than a little imprudent.

i guess my problem is that i feel guilty about hurting that young man.Saint i do have a CWP and i was carrying at the time(i did not feel the situation called for me to draw my weapon) i did get phone numbers but the parents are denying their kids could have been involved ( there "good kids")

budo, I would say you are a good representative for those of us who have weapons permits and carry on a regular basis. You correctly assessed the situation and used only the amount of force necessary to neutralize the threat. No decent person wants to use force against another. But we aren't always left with an option to be non-physical. You have nothing to feel guilty about.

All that nice young man was doing, was offering you a ride on his skateboard. He lifted it up to you in a gesture of kindness, and you struck him down.

Just shittin ya. I would have foregone the heart punch, and skipped right to the ball kick. This could also prevent the turd from reproducing in the future.

What kind of car do you have? Was this the first scratch on it? (just curious as to why they thought they could park their asses on it in the first place) Were the kids cold busted gangsta chilluns........who would have parked their bad gangsta rappin tookuses on any car they damn well pleased......like say, a 2008 Ferrari?

Were they shooting heroin? Did you feel like Charles Bronson?

I drive a 2006 Subaru Baja in mint condition (love my car) i wasn't really upset until they scratched the hood and told me to F.O i think the issue for me was more about disrespect then anything else.

You might should have gone ahead and killed one of the small ones. Then the lesson would be more real for the others.

With the exception of LJ... I agree with what everyone else has said. You need not feel the least bit guilty for punching the guy. I hope the officer also saw it this way.

(LJ is an exception all his own)

No killing please!!

Budo....you did what you had to do......and NOT using your weapon meant you used wisdom and proper restraint. Some of these young kids have no respect whatsoever for anyone or their property. I commend you on your quick thinking and don't think you did anything wrong.
The fact that the parents don't think their children did anything wrong...explains why the kids behave the way they did!

Hi Budo, what kind of tackle did you pick up?
You did good Budo but if it were me I wouldnt have punched him first before I told him after he raised his skateboard...
You had better hope you know how to use that skateboard because after I get it away from you,I'm going to kill ya with it.
Works with knives anyway.

Good job, Budo!

The reasons I drive a crappy car...

I would've personally cracked the fella's Adam's apple and let the others watch their comrade drown in his own blood...but then again...I'm also certifiable.

He should consider himself lucky. You controlled you punch or he would be dead.

I like hammer strikes to the shoulder or jaw. The crunching pop sounds like a gun shot. I also don't trust in my care of control. Make me pull the trigger, its to drop you once and for all.

You played it well from what I can gather. Until you walk in another's sandles and see the situation first hand...it's hard to relate.

Likely a good thing you didn't try this however: CLICK

BUDOOOOOOOO I pictured this as you were narrating..

calm collected Budo .. hands in pockets kick back style .. calmly requests they remove themselves from the car .. asswipe decides to bully Budo wrong move and then the music from the series KungFu started playing my head and without so much as a whisper Budo floors the punkass and returns his hands to his pockets calm and collected once more

Im sure the Police have gotten all their names too and the parents wont have a chance in hell of NOT paying to fix the scratch on your car .. plus maybe some nice community service and a fine for the little turds ...btw I woulda busted that damn board but that is just me

big huggs Budo you did nothing wrong he attacked you defended..unless you are thinking you SHOULD have let him hit you with the board?? JK
