I've been working for two days, with a half dozen windows open, tinkering with all kinds of interactive online IRS forms and pages of instructions -- and the friggin' WIND blew my electricity off for an instant.
POOF!   
Shoot, I wonder if one of those battery backups is tax deductible. 
Augggghhh!

SunBabe you need to purchase a good quality UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) Don't get a cheapy one if this is your main computer. Get one that is also rated for lightening strikes. I would give you the name of the type which I use except that I am not at home at the moment and don't recall the manufacturer. I can tell that it is designed to save my computer programs and shut down safely after remaining without power for 6 hours. 3000 watts usage I believe. VERY EXPENSIVE piece of hardware.
I'll have to get back to you on it. Maybe you can take this question to the computer forum.

I feel your pain Sunnyone. The good news is, a lot of those interactive sites save the info as it goes, so you might not have to re-enter everything.

What I do is fine your local irs building and just walk in. Hello Im like lost. They help file and well since ya there let em efile it for you. Its free state may cost you 5 or 10 spot. But atlease its in there. and you save 53 cents on the stamp

I know, I know...I had a UPS once upon a time and have been meaning to get another one. I don't have any use for a 6 hour or super good one. If my PC fries, it goes in the pile with all my "busted" laptops.  Nothing in my files or life is critical enough that it can't be replaced or discarded...except for the doggone April 15th deadline!  Power "flickers" don't usually affect me -- except today, of course, lol.
A solar power salesman is on the way.
~grin~ The one reliable thing we DO have here is sun -- trick is to find an automatic transfer switch that'd make it instantaneous
 I HAD a generator, but it seems to be missing ...not that it'd have been any help for the nano-second it took to clear my connection and screens.

Do you have any clue where I live? "Local" is an hour and a half away.  (Besides, it's the figures that got zapped...I can still enter them in again, but I'm whining about losing the comparisons  )
Annie, I already checked my bookmarks -- nope, poofed. 
I'm going to get smart, though...I'm going high tech and printing off the forms right now then filling them in with ~gasp~ PENCIL...just in case, lol.

AWW DAMMIT SUNNY that sucks Im so glad finished mine yesterday and the mailman just took it off today... whats funny?my sis the CPA had to file for an extension .. again this year ... and she had offered to do mine hahaha My Poor Sunnyone. I really feel bad for you.. but I have to say when I first read it i rad it as your house windows were open and the wind blew your paperwork everywhere either way not fun nor good here hon have one of these   a few of them and relax DONT STRESS YOURSELF

hahaha...I flew to the store right after it happened and bought Tootsie Rolls and Peanutbutter Cups Now I just need to find the corkscrew to open a bottle of wine (hehehe, I'll bet I can figure out how to get money BACK instead of writing a fat ol' check if I finish the whole thing )
