Sorry, Ken! I actually am going to use that steel can idea to make an ice cream that is healthy. I don't use aluminum like the ice cream makers are made of so I will make a can out of some steel food storage canisters. Thanks for the idea, SG!

I have one of those old wood ice cream makers. Do you know how to make home made ice cream?

Sure do. I used to be a kid, didn't I? Didn't everyone make it back then? Mine will use honey or xylitol or fruit juice to sweeten.

I was driving to get carry out the other day and saw a Schwann's truck parked in a parking lot selling food. Anyone else know this company? Anyway, bought a 1/2 gal of "Black Jack" ice cream....it's cherry/vanilla with big chunks of black cherries and chocolate pieces..... , to die for! (Also got some black angus steak patties, and chicken potpies...had to quit, ran out of $)

My Mom used to buy from them. They are ok, I suppose. I have never looked them over closely. I am particular about what is in my food. I made my ice cream. Waiting for it to freeze up.

When I'm desperate for icecream / something sweet but trying to shift kilos at the same time, I make this frozen yoghurty thing and call it icrecream
1.Dissolve some artificial sweeteners in a tiny bit of boiling water 2. Pour this over frozen fruit (I currently use sour cherries, but maybe you can only get them in Turkey. Raspberries are good too) 3. Mash the mixture a bit so that you partially thaw the frozen fruit. 4. Stir in skimmed milk yoghurt. 5. Put it in the freezer until it forms ice crystals and starts to freeze. (Don't let it freeze solid or it will be like trying to chew a glacier.)
I half wondered if it's safe because you're not supposed to thaw and re-freeze things, are you? but actually you only HALF-thaw the fruit and then HALF -freeze the mixture and I have made this loads of time and never got sick from it.
If you think it sounds OK, try it and let me know what you think

Artificial sweeteners can cause cancer, so you better eat less ice cream instead.

Xylitol and sorbitol are pretty ok for artificial sweetners. No known side effects ofther than sorbitol can cause diarhea if you eat too much. I use honey which can be used as food when processed sugar does not. You can also use fresh fruit juice to add for sweetner. Read ingredients is all I can say. Xylitol is actually suppoed to be good for the teeth and gums. I know stevia is good for some people but I hate the aftertaste...ewwwwwwwww. The ice cream turned into a freekin ROCK! So I had to let it thaw a bit to eat. I have around a quart or more. Yum!!!! Next time I will add more protein and honey. Less cream as well. I may make banana and chocolate next time. Mmmmmmmmm. Nothing better than chocolate covered frozen ripe bananas. Have to try to make a chocolate banana ice cream to beat it.
