As with every forum based singles site, there are Lurkers (those who read but refrain from posting)
Look at the number of views vs. number of responses.....

Sometimes forums are so dead, why not jump in and have a go at posting? Liven things up. Meet some people.

i only lurked for a few days before joining MD but that was because the environment seemed friendlier then, like a big family, and that's what i needed at the time. i dunno if the MD environment is still the same =/
also since everyone is so close, some potential members might think "why bother, I won't be accepted" 
they shouldn't think like that but at the same time it's understandable

That's true, I see it on many sites. The clique mentality is common in places like these, though I haven't seen that as much here yet. (then again, I'm relatively new here)

I lurked for 3 months....wanting so BADLY  to be a part of this special group...and then I did it!!  I jumped in the water and most ignored me at first as they didn't know me really....why they were probably thinking....who is this blonde woman?? where did she come from? Should we take a chance on welcoming her into our special group? Then one day......someone went  and then came and then followed  ..but I really knew I had arrived when I saw...   and everything has been all downhill from there.. 
I'm just sayin

People hated me when I first came here, LOL. I went back and read all my old threads once and it's pretty obvious I was well reviled I can see why though, I was kind of an asshole.

I didn't hate you, but I did email you and give you some advice..
When I first came here back when the old boards were here, I lurked.
Then an old friend, and wonderful Canadian mailed me and asked if I was ever going to say anything..
That is all it took. I jumped in and the rest is history!!
