I would regret never having been a parent. A man wants to leave something behind. I've never had the priveledge to be a father. It is one of my great desires in life that some day, I will find the right relationship and have the chance to fullfil that dream.

I regret that I didn't get my education..all the rest of my life ..I would not change for anything. as of right now..my only sibling is dying of cancer...her last wish is to go to the ocean.....which is out of the question. It's at least a 7 hour drive from here..she wouldn't survive the trip.

I could come up with one or two regrets but looking back, if anything in my past had been different, I wouldn't be quite where I am today; and I'm very happy with my current life. I wouldn't want to be any different. Now it's all a matter of living each day to the fullest & spending as much time as I can being with my kids, my extended family & the one I love.

Cakes?
Maybe someone could bring the ocean to her....get a pretty jar, put some sand, ocean water and shells in it....maybe find a big shell that you can "hear" the ocean in...
I'm sorry to hear

I often think how things would have turned out if I had done this or that differently. Then I realize I would not have the friends I have today, would not have the job I have, would not live where I live. So all is good there. But I do have one regret and that is I do not have any children. I'm a teacher, I love kids, but have none of my own. If I could, I'd like to find a man who has children and grandchildren. I kind of like the thought of being "Grandma" now!

I was going to say that I would have no regrets until I read this:

MakyaI said:
would regret not respecting time. Having wasted so much of it on the mundane as opposed to what was really important. Being arrogant enough to believe time owed me more of itself. For not living every minute as if it were my last.

Well said, Makyal, and that would be my regret as well.

Nice thread Charligurl.
Sunbabe your post about your Mom brought a tear and a smile!

I will regret if I do not allow myself to be happy again.

I try to live each day like its my last.....try to make amends, and keep in touch with people who are close to me. I have to write a paper on the impact my dads death had on me, and its stirring up all sorts of emotions. So its making me really think about life.

I mostly have no regrets but the one I do have is that I didn't take more time to spend with my late baby sister, before she got ill. She was my only sibling and she passed away with colon cancer in '06, 4 short weeks after getting the diagnosis. I quit my nursing job in long term care immediately when she got ill, came to FL and had the honor of being her caregiver until she took her last breath.
Cakes, my thoughts and prayers are with you, I know what you're going thru.

I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to list "regrets", mainly because I'm of the belief that the way I am is a result of everything I've done and haven't done (yet).

indeed !!

spending even a moment on "regrets" is a moment wasted that i'll never get back. I can say that looking back, i can see opportunities for learning and growth and if placed in similar situations again in the future - God please help me to make decisions to cause the least amount of pain and suffering to those around me.

as much as i hate to say it, i've been thinking about this question and i can honesty say that i do have regret for any pain i might have caused others in my life. it's not that i could go back and change things - and the best way to honor the pain i caused others - is to avoid causing similar pain to others in the future - but all of that having been said, i do have regrest
