Lori to me the ending left me with the conclusion I have about a lot of things…. that is, that perception is a funny thing and that perception is as individual as it gets… what we perceive to be true is true only to us whether it is the real truth or not… we see and believe what we think is the truth when in all reality it is only the truth to us at the moment ... one incident in or lives can change our course for our eternity if we allow it to... that's just my perception of the ending...

Thanks, you two!
But
central question of Prot's "sanity" was addressed. We saw rock solid indications that he was in fact telling the truth

What is "rock solid?"

what we believe to be true is a matter of perception, perceptions change....

If you are driving a car 60 miles an hour with lights on, will light be traveling the speed of light plus 60?

Heaveninawildflower is correct.

Einsteins theory of relativity

Specifically: Relativity of simultaneity

At least that is how it was taught to me in 3rd semester University Physics. I have also read of some advanced theorys as well, like mass warping of space fabric.

As far as extra-terrestrials..... pullleazzzzzze

Scientist have in fact discovered some Mars rocks to contain fossilized bacteria (that should get the religious stirred up - life only meant to be on earth). Scientist have also found amino acid (proteins building blocks leading toward DNA allocations) reminants in meteorites. Hence there is life beyond earth but not E.T.'s

You won't see any time travelers from the future until a time machine is invented.

It is possible that it has been invented in the future, which gives them the ability to travel back to now if they choose.

If a time machine has been invented in the future, they could even travel back to the days of the dinosaurs!

One thing I've wondered about:

If time stretches out as we approach the speed of light, does time exist AT the speed of light? Is light itself in a timeless state?

If you go back in time you have the probability of changing the present, which would not not be possible if it is changed. Or should I say, how would we know?

Can you go back and see yourself? And if you could, could you change the outcome ?

I love " back to the future" although I find find many problems with the it. But I also love " My destiny " and " It's a wonderful life " We all make decisions, how our actions affect others, how would life as we know it change without us...........?????? This is why I choose to be a positive influence, no matter what the outcome. If it is all a crap shoot, why not think about the outcome before you role the dice? At least then, you have an idea about the possible outcome.

If time travel was possible then it would exist in all eternity. Somewhere in that infinate time span somene would figure out a way to destroy the earth and we'd cease to exist. I am, therefore time travel will always be impossible. This brings up infinate "ifs" and can be debated for ............infinity.

Photons travel at one speed. If that car traveling 60 MPH turned on it's headlights there would be a shift in the wave length of the light as viewed from the front. Light would be shifted toward the ultraviolet......the tail lights on the other hand, viewed from the rear would have a shift toward infra red. In spite of it's compressed or expanded state, light will always travel at the speed of light.

Loreli if I tell you, it could create a time paradox. After that, the universe
might explode!
