Some women who feel a need to post a photograph displaying "excessive" (and that IS the operative word) cleavage (there are only two "E"'s) might feel that they have little else to offer; e.g. personality, intelligence, interests, etc.

Others, as Dolly Parton, use it jokingly as part of their persona.
An aside... an interviewer once asked DP why she displayed herself as a "dumb blonde."
Her reply, "'cause I ain't dumb and I ain't blonde."
How great is that?

Further, if I were of a "need" to view cleavage, I might think the beach or a swimming pool might be far more "productive" than still photographs. I have never seen a photogrph jiggle.

That's a common stereotype, and as is the case with most common stereotypes, commonly inaccurate. We should not assume motives.

If a woman is comfortable showing cleavage, so what? She will attract men who want a woman who is comfortable showing cleavage. We should not assume the motives of either of them, nor paint a stereotypical caricature of them.

If it offends you, move on to the next profile.

I guess I should post on topic...ok...ummmm...here goes...

I agree...and I think that women with excess cleavage should give to those less fortunate....

p.s. did anyone see the Dennis Leary Merry F^&%$ Christmas Special? If you did..you know what I'm referring to...

You know what they say. A man with small hands makes them look bigger.

Hey, did, weren't you suppossed to like, get all pissed off and lash out at waiting and then we start some three day argument around here and everyone gets popcorn and soda to watch??

sorry! i'm kind of slow like that. Would you mind if i take a raincheck on that. I"m an honest guy so i promise i'm not just saying it. I duly promised to get pissed off and lash out at you on another thread - deal? lmao....

I mean a man wearing his boxers outside of his pants with suspenders....Sorry sirdidy...they are cute..

and you're apologizing ...... why? if that's what a man's gotta do to get a lady to scope him out - i'm not above a little shameless self-flaunting, even at the expense of exploiting those smileys! :P

cleavage (there are only two "E"'s)

oops, thank you for that. i took the liberty of looking that up on dictionary.com and you are correct sir! (sorry, not that i didn't trust you but - i'm from Brooklyn , there isn't much i take at face value - ha!)

Well - DOH! why didn't i think of that!!! ha ha ha (said in a jestful, not argumentative way). That's what i wanted, honest opinions (doesn't have to agree w/me by any stretch).

I'm not offeneded by such pics though. i don't think I, in any way, alluded to the possibility of even being offended? I mean - i'm a guy, i enjoy boobs as the next person. However, on a dating site- we're always going to stereotype to some degree, whether it's something someone says, or the manner in which they communicate, or in this case - the possibility of how they present themselves in their profile. We judge (and i don't mean that in a condascending fashion) based on what appeals to us and the message people send out.

We all send out "messages" - and there stands to reason, a certain logical message "can be" interpreted from such a picture. This message, will likely be "received" in a particular fashion, i imagine, by the large percentage of it's intended audience.

So my question was never one of condemnation, but rather - you as the recipient - what "message" would you get from such a picture, if any?

That she is perhaps less inhibited than some others. It says nothing to me, one way or another, about her intelligence, or her self-esteem.

A picture says a thousand words, and should say something accurate about the person. In addition to the text in her profile depicting herself accurately, only by presenting a pic which accurately tells something about who she really is, can she hope to attract the right match for who she really is.

You can't attract the right person for you by portraying yourself as someone else.

I forgot to look. Are you old enough to remember "Dem Bums"?

There wasn't much we didn't "verify" in Yorkville either.
And, there will never be another Coney Island.

A little self-censoring action and... away we go....

Nope, not old enough...thus, i grew up a big Yankees fan :P. I am happy for '55 though - from what i understand - it was very deserved and overdue!!

Of course, Brooklyn now has a AAA affiliate "Brooklyn Cyclones" - they started about one or two years after i moved away (wouldn't you know *sigh*)

Coney Island is the stuff that dreams are made of, even today - it's a grand place to be...(crime issues notwithstanding)

I have two NYPD nephews who say it is a war zone... and.... run now by the Russian mafia
My Dad did 32 years NYPD and my ex-Father-in-Law did 29 - neither of them were ever assigned in Brooklyn and both were happy not to be.
My uncle was a Det Lt (Narcotics) at Sands Street which was, at the time, NYPD Brooklyn HQ
'Course, may Dad and ex-F-i-L did their stretches in Harlem which was from from a walk in the park

BTW, over the years, Brooklyn had a number of minor league sports teams and, believe it or not, the Giants first home field was in Brooklyn

I am a bit of a sorts historian and can send you some great Brooklyn stuff, if you wish.

I get a little embarassed for some of the women. I guess it does depend on what they want, dating-wise.

Is the cleavage shot an attempt to get men to want to have sex w/ them?

Or do they want something more lasting, and they just don't realize that is probably not the way to get a man w/ similar wants to be interested in her.

What interests me , is that it looks as though the majority of men here would appreciate a photo that is less revealing. Maybe I should go back and check again.

Nah--never mind.

By the way, those "cruise ship" "glamour shots" are almost as bad as the cleavage revelations.

Nice cleavage is a good thing, and yes I like to look! I would rather see great legs and a nice butt though! As far as the guys with no shirt on in their pics, I understand why! You see I am a S.L.U.T. (Shirt Less Undressed Thug) It started when I was 4 or 5 and my mom would let me run around with just a pair of shorts on. As I grew older it became an embarrassment to my family, but I couldn't help myself! They thought the wedding pictures of me, in the tuxtails with the little tie and no shirt, was just me being a clown! It got worse, I lost job after job for violating the dress code until I had no choice but to become a male stripper! I lost my selfworth and started to feel like just another piece of meat, which started me drinking and taking lots of tylenol! I had sunk about as far as I could when I was rescued by a SLUT! It has taken years of meetings, but it has really worked for me! Now if I can get past this walking around naked!

I ran around with no shirt on until I was about 9. The boys made me quit their boys club...
