Are you REALLY in control??

I read this online the other day and thought it to be quite thought provoking.... 
It read:
"Within each of us lies the power of our consent to
Health and Sickness, to
Riches and Poverty, to
Freedom and to Slavery.
It is we who control them, and not another......
Are we really in control of our own destiny?
What do you think?

We can control what we try to do for others also. Compassion, gratitude.
Health? Nope...I know too many people that excercised, didn't smoke, drank in small amounts, still got cancer or other afflictions.
Riches/poverty-not always....but one can try
slavery? You bet you can control that.

i think the only way we own our control is to be able to accept the things out of our control and have to courage to change the things within that control, and of course the wisdom to differentiate..sounds familiar, right? the bottom line i agree is attitude and the power of positive thinking!

Health and Sickness, to I think we do have some control over this. For instance, I could loose weight, and quit smoking, and probably add 10 years to my life.
Riches and Poverty, to
I do strongly believe we have control over this, not necessarily, in financial matters, but there is more to being rich than having money. I feel I am the richest girl in the world right now. My youngest is graduating in a few days, I have a man that loves me dearly, I will soon be moving to be with him, which will also put me close to my daughter and her family. BUT... I don't have a pot to pi$$ in. 
Freedom and to Slavery.
We absolutely have control here, we just have to have the strength to carry it out. There are many forms of slavery, being addicted to drugs or alcohol, being in an abusive relationship, Smoking...
Are we really in control of our own destiny?
To an extent I think we are in control of our own destiny, by some of the choices we make. However, I think it is written before we are even born, as to what choices are there for us to make.
I hope this is where you were going with this Spring, if not, I'm sorry.

And attitude has a lot to do with it...the 'secret' of the law of attraction is simply that our attitude determines what we attract to us...how many people do you know who pay no particular attention to their health, are overweight or even obese, and never, ever get sick?
One of my favorite sayings is 'You can believe you can do it, or you can believe you can't do it...either way, you're right.'

I thought about this area.....the power to consent to health and sickness...
I know many people who have had the dreaded diagnosis of "cancer" ....
Now, remember this is only "some" and not "all"...but some people refuse to die that way and we say they are fighting it. Their attitude is.." I refuse to consent to let cancer have it's way in my body" and their stories are amazing. So many have beat this disease and I think it is in the spirit of not giving up and having faith in another power other than themselves. My father beat pancreatic cancer this way and at the time they said he only had 3 to 6 months to live! He refused to give up! The human spirit is very strong indeed! Oh and btw...he is still alive today...4 yrs later....
Then there are others who have fought the good fight and still died....
Also I've noticed that when people complain about being sick or tired.....the more they give into it....the more they feel tired and sick! It's like they "consent" to letting their body feel worse and worse. Then again in keeping balance there are some health issues that are beyond our control....
Just something to think about....

This is very true. Also, when you think you are tired all the time, think about it. why are you tired? I had a very smart person tell me one time that I wasn't tired, I was bored. That really stopped me in my tracks!
She was right. I then found a different job with more responsibility and it worked for me.
