Here is your chance to report something that will inspire hope. Whether it be a personal story of an experience you have to share or a link to a story that you found inspiring. Boy Scout Turns In $800 he Found, Gets Good Karma in Return Saturday, 03 May 2008 An 11-Year-old Michigan boy scout found a wallet in a parking lot containing $800 in cash. It took only a second to decide to return it because he knew how the owner must have felt. That same day he had lost his own wallet with the $45.00 in allowance money he'd saved. The local police wanted to reward him and collected money. Instead of pocketing the money, he asked for a pizza party for the whole scout troop! Well, the good karma he'd created with all those good deed has returned to him, as someone turned in his wallet.

Hundreds Compete In Urban Adventure
PHILADELPHIA -- Hundreds of people will compete in a citywide competition testing their mind and body -- as well as raise money for charity.
About 500 people will participate in Philadelphia's first City Chase, a contest and race that is billed as "the world's largest urban adventure."
Teams of two of receive clues throughout the city to challenges that they must complete. According to the contest's Web site, the challenges can range from building rappelling to eating worms to Sudoko-challenges. Participants were told to dress for athletic activities and be prepared for anything Jason Fallon, of Fishtown, said he is ready for almost any challenge.
"I can eat pretty much anything," he said. "I just hope I don't have to eat liver. I always hated that when I was 12, so, no liver, please."
One woman listed another item she hoped wasn't on the menu.
"Do what you got to do. I'm not eating bugs, though," she said.
Before the race, City Race's Jason Erkes wouldn't say exactly what contestants would be face, but he offered some hints.
"They'll be doing things that will get them dirty, that will get them physical, that'll be wet (and) might be a little gross," Erkes said. "They'll probably need to eat some stuff. They'll be some live reptiles involved."
For one challenge, participants will sell T-shirts to benefit Back On My Feet.
Team members won't be on their own. They can turn for help by calling family and friends, using the Internet and even getting assistance from strangers.
Fallon and his teammate Dave Downey, of Hainseport, N.J., said they had already lined up a support group.
"We're pretty technical," Fallon said. "We've got a Garmin GPS. We also have Internet, obviously, on both our cell phones. I have five people that I've lined up that are literally sitting at their computers."
City Race started in Toronto in 2003. The event came to the United States for the first time in 2007 in Chicago. Eight cities are participating in the event this year.
Each city's winning team will go on to compete in a National Championship in October. A World Championship will be held in November. Copyright 2008 by NBC10.com. All rights reserved. Thanks Makya, you did well. I'll give credit where credit is due. AM15OO KSTP Talk radio has a call in show, Garage Logic, with Joe Soucheray as the host. This topic is his invention, and is popular with his call in fans. Tip of the hat to Joe, I know you googled.

Great idea Brass wherever you got it from. I try to always be on the look out for the "good news" but it is often hard to find although we know it happens.
True story about a lost wallet. Years ago I lived and worked in another country and was at the zoo one day. We had been sitting ont eh swings that they had there and taking a break and gotten up and were walking away when a boy of about 10 or 11 came up and started talking to me in Dutch. I could understand very little of what he was saying but then he held out my wallet. It had apparently fallen out of my pocket while on the swings and he saw it fall. My heart almost stopped since my sons and my passport were in the wallet along with a couple of thousand in cash. Needless to say the little boy was shocked when I gave him $200 dollars for returning the wallet.

GW, Personal stories like that one give a perfect illustration of the honesty that resides in many people. The reward you offered showed gratitude and generosity on your part. Imagine the impact on that boy as he grew older and faced even tougher decisions?

Well, this wasn't in the newspaper but upon approaching the ATM machine this morning, the previous customer (now nowhere in sight!) left their card in the machine! I grabbed it and turned it in to a teller and hoped like hell that if I ever left my card in the machine, it would be turned in likewise!

You are so right Brass and I have to say that the event caused me to often stop and think about what I did in some situation. The honesty of that child affected me from that day forward and I also think it had a big impact on my son in his later life.
I have since found several things including cash which I did not hesitate turning in and think it all goes back to that day in the zoo. I even make sure I do not get to much change fro a clerk in a place of business.
I think that the boy had been given very good upbringing by his parents and to this day am thankful that it was him who found my wallet. I often wonder where he is and what he is doing but he left so quickly that I could not even get his name.

Speaking of gas prices, I paid 4 cents less a gallon than normal yesterday!
Edited to add: Normal??? I meant less than the other stations. I don't think any gas prices are "normal" right now!
