Dear Diary..
Been away for a while, working full time sucks majorly, first week was fun but after that it all just went down hill. Started working July 1st and won't be getting a paycheck til like the 23rd since they hold the first paycheck and they pay every two weeks. Oui...
Am excited yet also anxious. August 25th is the first day of classes for college, gotta be all moved up there the 20th.. my roommate is younger than I am and is from Brooklyn, I wonder if we will get a long or not..
Am contemplating changing my major from Accounting to Financial Planning, am not sure which i will do yet, already picked my classes for the first semester but the classes for the first semester are the same for both majors.. oui.. don't know which I'll do or not do.
Well gotta check back messages so guess its time to set down the online pen and close the diary for this thread.

Guess I don't need to talk about sex, huh?  Yeah, life's good and thank you Providence for dropping this wonderful man into my life...
Funny reading Simi's post - it was about 48 years ago when I was starting college (in Brooklyn though) but as a physics major - accounting???????  My favorite lunch buddy these days was an accounting major; we always break up about our majors when it comes time to compute the tip - divide by ten, multiply by two. So much easier overtipping! Good luck with your roomie Simi - enjoy these days and don't take them too seriously. They've found the people who do the best in life aren'/t the ones with the highest grades but the ones who learned to network (aka socialize!!). Most of what you learn in college will have to be unlearned and/.or relearned along the way as new data comes in, but some of your friends will be with you for life.
Financial planning though - as Simi enters college I'm about to enter the wonderful world of retirement. I've never been much of a planner but it looks as though I'll be okay in spite of that...although I'm going to put it off as long as I can. My SO is 1 years younger than I am and not planning on retiring, ever. I've found that it just doesn't work out well if one of you's working and the other isn't. Hmmmm....maybe some kind of part-time second career?

Dear Diary,
Wow! Things have been kinda busy lately and it's nice for a change. Last week I took a couple of vacation days to volunteer for a cool program, Reach Workcamp. Over 450 kids from 6 states got together in the Akron area for a week of home repair projects for low income home owners. I volunteered to help feed all of the workers. It's amazing to think my hands served hundreds of people dinner! I had a good time with it and look forward to perhaps working the whole week next year.
I've also recently discovered a Habitat for Humanity project beginning in August. They will be building a house in my area, Firestone Park! I've wanted to work with HfH for some time and I think this is the ideal project! I'm just concerned I'll be getting in over my head but I know this stuff is closely monitored my professionals!
Today I was lucky enough to finally get outdoor funriture for my deck! God bless the 50% off sale! I bought a loveseat, 2 chairs, 2 cushions and matching pillows, a side table and a larger table for about $210. It is so nice to be able to hang out on my awesome deck in something other than a folding chair! I just love making my house into a home.

Dear Diary,
Packed more boxes today, and took more to the storage. Whew! Also took the car battery to the shop to have it checked out, and yes, it is broke, won't hold a charge. Now I know why I get those extended warranties! Got a new one and just had to deal with paperwork. Took it home and dropped it in the car, after the guy there said I would be back 'cause that wouldn't be the problem. Well he was wrong, 'cause I put in the battery and hooked it up, car started right up and purred like a happy kitten. See, I did know what I was talking about! 
Got to love it when the lady outsmarts the man about cars, heaven knows it doesn't happen to me very often.
Tomorrow back to work for my 4 day stretch, then next Mon-Wed, more packing and taking boxes to storage. Wed. I get to sign the lease, and on the 8th I should get my keys. Hope I can take that day off from work, it is supposed to be one I am working on. (>.<)
