What did you get your mommy?

Well, my mom is my friend and she is the best grandma around! She helps me with the children many times a week, and (sometimes has too many opinions), but I have learned to just take it with a grain of salt. She loves me, she's 78, and she's a wonderful person.
The children and I got her a card that lets you record a message and we all made one for her.....she will giggle!
We also got her a digital picture frame and I took pics of the children. I will take more pics with my brother and his family tomorrow and then set up the frame for her (she is even more electronically challenged than I am  ).
I hope that she will like it! My brothers and sister and I can then send her the camera cards with our kids on them every once in a while. She has 11 grandchildren, so I thought it would be the gift that keeps on giving

My daughter and I collect them, and she makes them. Nice gift!

I put two bouquets of flowers on her grave.
Pulled the weeds from around the real flowers I have planted there, (mums and daffodils) and sat and talked to her.

Every year I send my sister some small handheld Texas flags. When she goes to the cemetary to put flowers for Mom & Dad, she leaves a flag from me. I wish they were both still here so I could shower them with the love they deserved!

Being that my mother is bedridden with two broken legs that will never heal and blind from her being diabetic I couldnt think of anything other then flowers which she could at least smell.Then Brenda suggested a voice Mothers Day card from Hallmark which we could record a greeting on but the only Hallmark in the area is only open on Sundays so I sure hope they have one.

My mom passed away five years ago. My dad's mom passed away some 15 years ago. My mom's mom is still alive, but fading fast...
We sent my mom's mom a bonsai azalea plant. We tend to send gifts that last a while, rather than a bouquet that will wither away within a week...

Couldnt give her anything since shes been gone since 95  But I did think about her all day today and I heard her saying *remember when I said" just wait till you have kids" well now you understand * and I swear I heard her laughin her ass off  so I guess I gave her a good laugh

my mom passed 26 years ago BUT we had my future inlaws over thursday and i gave her a card and a moms day cookie anda candle and told her i havent had a mom in 26 years and i have one now and she hugged me real tight ..Sweet N Louisiana

...Spent Saturday afternoon "fixing" stuff around her house, including a new ballast in the kitchen light and had already replaced the kitchen faucet and drain last weekend. Last fall, I rebuilt their wrap around porch, so Mom is now into "decorating the yard mode," like there is not enough stuff to trim around now.
...Regardless, she had picked out some solar lights, so I went into town last night and picked up 8 of those, a shelf unit she wanted for her laundry room and a card. Today, it is dinner at her favorite place, the Texas Roadhouse and since I will be driving, she will have her annual Pina Colada.
...It is unlikely that we will make it out of town, without stopping someplace to look at something, but it is all good.
...Friday, I was in the local gas station, waiting to pay my bill and making small talk, I asked the kid behind the counter what he was getting his Mom and he said flowers and a card. Other people chimed in with similar, when another customer said he was getting his Mom a tombstone... suddenly quiet, it was one of those moments where you just want to put an arm around the guy, but certainly the realization for those of us that still have our Mom's, to not take her for granted.

Sg..you are very right. I will be giving my mom an extra long hug today.
Reading this thread I started....sitting at my computer this morning....I was a little sad. I expected lots of nice ideas. It never crossed my mind that so many of you would be saddened today with memories of your mother instead of the thoughts of the memories that would be made.
For those of you who no longer have your moms with you..........

Will be taking my Mom out to eat and also got her a nice card.
Read an interesting article this morning about the beginnings of Mother's Day and how the founder would be very dissapointed in what it has become. Like many of our holidays and celebrations they have been commercialized by the retailers of the world. Here is a link to the article in case anyone is interested.
