here we are.... 1st off I agree with Pam.. ( who agrees with SG.... )
my preference for a woman with a tat is that the tat be located somewhere that it would show only during sex.. otherwise I think ..."why...?"
but the funny thing is that piercings on a woman do not bother me in the slightest unless they are down there... that freaks me out...
maybe it has something to do with the permanence of tats?
to each his/her own...

why did she put it there to begin with, if not for attention? Perhaps some people put tattoos over there heart as a tribute to someone who has been important to them for over a decade.
I'm proud as f*** that my tattoo is where it is and if you (collective you) don't like it, suck my cock. It's my body. It's low enough that it can be covered by a sweater or button down shirt, or any other professional form of dress. =)

if you look at history, Tattoo's have always been around, always been a minority of the population. The Majority of people have never approved. Social Stigmas, Shunning, etc... all merely ways to tell individuals that you live under a belief system that doesn't agree with theirs
There have been a few religions, governments, and social circles that have banned, or outlawed tattoo's, All of those groups have been vilified as time rolls on, for destructive, and, or oppressive behavior...
The saddest thing of all, is we labor under the belief our values, and belief system is better than the other person...
oh, and back on topic... "Never tattoo the palms, or bottoms of the feet"

I was walking on the waterfront with a friend a few weekends ago and this young little hottie with a tight little body was walking with her boyfriend. She had on a bikini top and low cut shorts and her tat was this hideous looking thing going up her entire side. It was just the outline and I didn't want to be too obvious about staring trying to figure this thing out. But my reaction was.... why oh why would you want to cover up such a large part of such a cute little body like that????

I don't like seeing tats on the neck. I have seen some beautiful art. And some scary stuff that made me wonder if it was done in prison? I have considered getting one several times ~but have never come across a design that I thought I could live with the rest of my life.

I had an agent from Hong Kong who noticed some Asian symbols on people....who thought they said one thing, and they actually said something quite vile.

Prison tattoos and home made ones are very green. It's from using heated baby oil for ink.
Tattoo's have always been around, always been a minority of the population I'd like to see your statistics on this.
The Majority of people have never approved. Social Stigmas, Shunning, etc... all merely ways to tell individuals that you live under a belief system that doesn't agree with theirs
Tell all this to a war vet (especially WWII and 'Nam Sailors) I'm sure they could give a rat's ass about social stigmata.
Holocaust Survivors (though theirs was given to them by force and lead to atrocities) still show theirs with pride.
My ink all has meaning. Nothing "off the display wall" or out of a mag.
I had an agent from Hong Kong who noticed some Asian symbols on people....who thought they said one thing, and they actually said something quite vile. On a funnier note, I was going to get the chinese characters for "eat my meat sausage" on my forearm.

Again I say different strokes for different folks. I like my tats. I have been wise enough to acknowledge that though I don't like the idea that they are looked down upon, my career comes first. Every one I have is something that is not seen unless I choose it to be. I would not for one second change the fact that I have them though. What they represent is a strong enough force that I am happily living with them for the remainder of my life.
I do feel strongly against those who simply follow the fad or trend of a certain tattoo styles to be hip or cool in some manner are complete idiots. When the reality does set in that it wont go away then they alone will have that to reckon with.
As far as my significant other is concerned, the tats are a part of me, who I am. They are just another thing about me that I am not willing to pretend to be ashamed of in the least.

I really do not understand people that get tattoos that they get cos they think they're "cute" or they think "look cool". To me, a tattoo should have meaning. My next one will either be a portrait of John Lennon or a portrait of my cat, Meeko. I will also eventually get the number '41' (most of you should get the reference), and I may get something celebrating my heritage.

Mini-van tatts might be a good main stream design. A plate of green bean casserole, like she cooks for the PTA potluck, boldly emblazed in ink on her back. A skull with a Swifter sticking out of one of the eye sockets. If cliche is what fits, just a few ideas.

Goose: The only place I couldn't see getting a tattoo is on the face. ...And why not Goose? They are simply "expressing" and have just as much right to claim it is alright, as you do for anyplace else; don't be a hypocrite.
Goose: You don't get out much. ...Alright, I will play... name one female executive in a Fortune 500 company that has an exposed tat? Or, name one female Senator or Representative that has an exposed tat?
...I am not saying there isn't, but for every woman that might have an exposed tat in the professional world (not a construction job trailer), there are 10,000 that don't.
...For the religious conservative, of which there are more than millions of, several religions, including Christianity, conclude ink as a defilement of one's body. You may never know what your superior thinks, or has convictions of, while others are promoted around you.
Goose: Sorry, but ink isn't some passing phase. It's been around for thousands of years. Tats are (for real enthusiasts--not the generic "I'll pick a tattoo out of a magazine" person) a form of expression. ...You are attempting to argue and defend the point of why, instead of the OP's question for a personal opinion of where at. I don't give a rat's ass if you are 99% covered in tats.
...Ink was and still is a form of identification and at times, to the detriment of the holder. In as recently as Vietnam, the North put bounties on certain American GI's and identified them by their tats; especially SF groups... most of my friends had/have them, but some refused for that very reason. This continued into Cambodia and Laos.

LGQ: I'm proud as f*** that my tattoo is where it is and if you (collective you) don't like it, suck my cock. It's my body. It's low enough that it can be covered by a sweater or button down shirt, or any other professional form of dress. =) ...I don't think anyone cares where you put one or more at Renae. Apparently, you are wise enough to be able to cover it; as we have had this discussion before.
...Read my post again, where it is some rose climbing out of her bosom, bright red, exposed to the world and wondering why men do not look her in the eyes while talking to her, why men do not respect or take her seriously, etc. The "why" is because exposed tats are not accepted as being professional and I did not make the rules, but I know what they are.
============ ============
...In conclusion, rather than a response to the OP's question, this is becoming a pissing contest to enforce an individual's "why" they are pro-tat, why it is alright and should be accepted, etc. If one is that self confident, there is no reason to defend.
...The fact is, nobody cares what you do with your body. The other fact is, exposed tats are a minority in the professional world, especially for women and until they become dominant, social acceptance is limited to the social class represented.
...I don't make the rules... simply an observation of what is. The rest is simply defending one's position and no relevance. Personally, I think some are quite artistic, but unless hidden, may very well become a hindrance; depending on your personal aspirations.
