I'm like sign, I waited until I was 50 for my first tat. Had been thinking about getting one for sometime so when I turned the "milestone" of 1/2 a century old, thought it was about time.
My first one was a Native American Medicine Wheel, with red-tail hawk feathers hanging from it, designed by me, on my inner, left ankle.
Second one, a couple years later was a colorful butterfly on my right hip.
Third one, a few years after that, a Native American (Inuit) tribal design of a dolphin, jumping out of the water, on my left shoulder/back.
My final one, an Irish Shamrock, on my right shoulder/back.
I'm done.....no more places left that won't sag when I'm 80+.....

The Shamrock (clover) is the symbol for the Aryan Brotherhood.
Certain people (not you, Im sure) are held accountable for sporting shamrock tattoos.

Umm also a no lol. I already have my design in the works for my next one and have decided where it's going before I even posted this. I knew it would bring a large crowd of pro & anti-tat people to the table of discussion.
It doesn't bother me that people have their own opinions that don't agree with my own. This is part of what makes us individuals.

I never would have dreamed I'd ever get a tat, much less 3! I was that old stereotyped "good girl". But as I got older, there were things I wished I had done and this was one. I don't want to have any regrets in my life. So if I'm weird because I have tatts, so be it. I'm weird anyway, they just add to the mystique!

Oh really I don't think that makes you weird. I don't think of it really being an age thing either.
I had to go by a client's house a few days ago. I had been there several times. However today she was in her yard in a sun dress and as I walked up to greet her I noticed for the first time several tattoos beginning at her wrist that went up her forearm. They were hearts and stars with the American flag patterns within. They were most certainly not anything fresh. I am no expert but judging by deterioration of the ink color compounds they could have been as old as to have been done in the 70's. Regards they had been there a while. On the other occasions that I had met with her, she had been dressed very conservatively professional.
I couldn't help but smile.

What exactly do you mean? The borders are based on what width of needles are used on your skin.
Some tat artists use smaller ones and make the lines thicker if needed and others just prefer to use a higher width (more needles at one time basically).
My guy always uses a 3 to outline and almost always a 7 to shade.
Is that what you mean?

I have seen a few people with tats on the inside of their lower lip. It always freaks me out a bit. I can handle pain...but I'm just not sure about that....
