Does anyone here have any plans for New Year's Eve? I think all I am going to do is stay home and behave myself.

I'm going to do the same thing I've done for the past 20 years.... Sit on the side of the bed and stare at the floor, sigh a lot and occasionally whisper "I wish I was dead.". Oh.. the FUN I'll have!

Stormy and Blue Baby,
How far away from one another are you two? You both have the edge of the bed in common. Maybe you should drive to a halfway point and do dinner.
Getting out my map.
I think I'm staying home. Possibly going to a local nightclub w/ a group of ladies. Not sure. Not too concerned. Too many drunks on the road.

My dad died on New Year's Eve - 1999 (2 hours before the millennium) - so I traditionally have two shots of Ouzo in his honor. I do this quietly at home. I'm thinking of going to the Rose Parade with the kids on New Year's Day.

I'm usually outside, and asleep early. Last year, I was canoeing around the Okeefenokee swamp in Southern Georgia. After a good day of paddling on New Years Eve, I lasted till about 9:30.
This year it's winter camping, and climbing a mountain in the Adirondaks. I'll probably be in my sleeping bag and tent after cooking dinner and melting snow by 6 or so.
I know. I'm so boring , but usually partied out , and need some way to work off the excess weight I gained over the previous month .

The canoeing sounds awesome. A few years ago, a friend coaxed me into taking a kayak out in the ocean. I was staying in Carpinteria (Santa Barbara), and the view was breathtaking. I was amid the dolphins, and they were leaping in and out of the waves. I would do it again in a heartbeat, and I was surprised at how easy it was.
Pete,
I'm sorry to hear about your dad, too. A friend's dad passed away last week. I called her yesterday, and she was crying. Hard to know what to do. The best thing, I guess, is to listen, and assure them you are there, if they need anything.
Looks like I may be at the forum New Year's party too. Not sure yet.

I would go out, but I have to work the next morning so staying home is probably the smartest thing I could do.
