I regret to inform you all that my Profound Thought for the Day blogs have been permanently discontinued and that I have deleted all of my blogs. I also want to thank everybody who contributed to my blogs! I learned as much from your comments as I hope you learned from such wisdom as I was able to share.

I terminated my blog because I dislike being punished for the sins of others, Grumblebear. In two years, I only had to delete two comments from my blogs: One was from a scammer trying to introduce herself and the other was a racist comment totally unrelated to the subject of the blog. Yet I was punished along with thousands of others when MD implemented its "one comment per blog" policy. The mods directed us to use the forums instead and then all too frequently locked or even deleted the threads that we attempted to participate in. I do not wish to rehash that whole debate, but it convinced me that it is just a matter of time before MD eliminates the blogs altogether. It is unfortunate, but MD does have a long history of punishing the innocent rather than the guilty. I just decided that it was not worth the hassle and deleted all of my blogs and never again commented on any blog at this site. I have also decided to reduce the amount of time I devote to the forums. I will lurk and post to the occasional thread, but I will not be as active as I was in the past.

Q- In the spirit of profound thoughts
Why do you have to "put your two cents in".. but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

It is unfortunate, but MD does have a long history of punishing the innocent rather than the guilty. I wish I could disagree with this statement yet I too have seen this very thing played out time and time again. POF is much worse though. And it makes one wonder what the point is for this entire platform.

ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE
If you will take the time to read these. I promise you'll come away with an enlightened perspective. The subjects covered affect us all on a daily basis!
They're written by Andy Rooney , a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words. Enjoy.......
I've learned.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.
I've learned.... That when you're in love, it shows.
I've learned.... That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day.
I've learned.... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.
I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.
I've learned.... That you should never say no to a gift from a child.
I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.
I've learned.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.
I've learned.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.
I've learned.... That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.
I've learned.... That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
I've learned.... That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.
I've learned.... That money doesn't buy class.
I've learned.... That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.
I've learned... That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.
I've learned.... That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
I 've learned.... That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.
I've learned.... That love, not time, heals all wounds.
I've learned.... That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.
I've learned.... That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.
I've learned.... That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.
I've learned... That life is tough, but I'm tougher.
I've learned.... That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.
I've learned.... That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
I've learned.... That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.
I've learned.... That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
I've learned.... That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
I've learned.... That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.
I've learned.... That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.
I've learned.... That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

“What’s really different about e-mail isn’t that it’s a faster medium than conventional pen and paper. What’s different – and dangerous – is that e-mail is a disposable medium. It just doesn’t provoke the same degree of reflection and consideration from its user that paper does. If I have an important message that I want someone to grapple with, I’ll still use paper to communicate it.”

For the most part, what stands in our way of individual achievement is lack of desire. We cannot control anyone else, but we can control ourselves, or someone else will do it for us. I got this in an email recently, and felt it was worthy of passing along.

Men want sex. If men ruled the world, they could get sex anywhere, anytime. Restaurants would give you sex instead of breath mints on the way out. Gas stations would give sex with every fill-up. Banks would give sex to anyone who opened a checking account.
---Scott Adams
Isn't that the profoundest thing you ever read?

I find if very strange that Rare is allowed to express his concerns about MD's actions and policies without ridicule, while also receiving support, but when O does essentially the same thing, he IS ridiculed. Rare had every right to express himself in this thread, but I do see a double standard. I don't really care if "the gang" doesn't like me, if you want to see a classic case of MD bullying, check out the O thread.

Rare had every right to express himself in this thread, but I do see a double standard. I don't really care if "the gang" doesn't like me, if you want to see a classic case of MD bullying, check out the O thread. I suspect that the critical difference is that onoudn was addressing the moderators directly and effectively demanding a response. As others have noted in that thread, it would have been more appropriate (albeit less satisfying) for onoudn to submit his complaints and questions to the moderators directly via e-mail rather than in the forums. My comments are/were addressed to another poster and, while critical of the new policy, are not a de facto challenge to the moderators' authority. In other words, I was explaining the reason for my decision rather than demanding that the moderators justify their decision.
