When my son got married, the dress I had required a strapless bra.
My sister told me to just wear my black one and let the straps hang out 
I guess nowdays, it's the "in" thing....what say you?

Guess it's all in what you are comfy doing Lor.....I personally would feel awkward with my bra straps exposed but then I am from the "old school" along with Heaven

I did put on a cropped jacket, which really made me hot.
But they even sell clear bra straps now.

Okay way beyond tacky especially for a wedding  its called UNDERWEAR for a reason.. its supposed to be UNDER your clothes

I do it and don't give a f***. It's not like my breasts are hanging out. They're just straps for pete's sakes.
For a wedding it might have been a bit much though.

Yeah, this ol' gal here says 
I've noticed the trend...but it's mostly among much younger women...say, er, LGQ's age. But then as she noted..I think what might be appropriate in some settings (say going clubbing) would not be appropriate in another (such as a wedding).
Sorry you weren't totally comfortable, Lor....but I'm glad you opted out of going with that "look!"

I always cringe when I see someone wearing something where bra straps hang out. But then again, sometimes mine slip and show. However it's not done on purpose. I think the younger ones are ok with it but us older ones stick to the way we were brought up.

uhhh some people do it but not with formal clothing looks tacky and ruins the overall image, with a tank on a summer day though its not so bad but then again i wouldn't do it regardless, lol i prefer the straps to be in place, have 3 strapless bras and hate each and every one of them and only where them when i need to like when i am wearing a strapless dress or something with tiny straps

Guess my "old school" is showing...instead of my straps.
JMO...........going without a bra ...or using the jacket like you did...or a strapless is what I would do also. I'm not very PC....could care less what is "in".
I wouldn't look harshly at someone else doing it......I'm all for what is right for each different person.
