prayers from here
Donald and I rode around town here in Monticello today to check out the flooding. Its bad and gonna get worse once Delhi opens their dams again. I took plenty of pics but with my regular camera, so once I get them developed will post some. Last night was rough. My father in law called and said a tornado was spotted between here and Hopkinton just north of us. I must say it was a bit scary. We don;t have a basement to get in to but Donald does have a pit in the shop we can get into if we have to. We are on water restrictions in town since the sewer plant is under water. The fair grounds are under water. Walnut Acres Camp Ground is under water. The Maquoketa River is higher than I have ever seen but my FIL says it was much worse in 1993. The bridge crossing the Maquoketa River in Hwy 151 is under water. People in Parkersburg and that area have it much worse than us. Prayers for others please.

I talked to MO Annie just a little bit ago. She has had much help getting her stuff out of her house. The city is already coming by to pick up the flood soaked furniture. She says her neighbor hood looks like a war zone. None of her or her room mates furniture was salvageable. She was able to save her computer and some clothing. Her landlord has already begun the clean up. She has been working her butt off!! She says she still feels 'shell shock' and it all hasnt quite sunk in. Her boss has offered her a bedroom in her house with a private bath. Shes very thankful for that. Will keep you all posted...Im going over there tomorrow to help.

Laz- the rivers haven't crested yet...the park is closed here, and they're ready to close Edgewood... Yes, Parkersburg has been so hurt already this year...200 homes lost, 400 damaged, 8 dead. Now they're rainsoaked on top of trying to pick through the debris..

Thoughts and prayers coming in from Texas also. I know several people will be on their way to help MOA by the end of the week. I hope all others in that midwest area stay safe and healthy. I've helped with flood clean up back when I was in college. It was awful, all the damage and loss. In 1998 I was closed off from the towns on either side of me by flooding. Luckily the mobile home park where I live was unaffected. But many of my friends lost homes. I know the devastation that flooding and other weather can bring.

May the Father watch over you, as He watches over the sparrow.
My prayers are with everyone trying to cope with the events unfolding in the Midwest, actually all over the country this year.

I still get shivers when I think of that night, Keeno...and I'm still amazed that you rigged up your computer to stay online through the worst part of that ordeal. I don't know if we were holding your hand or if you were holding ours, but even if we couldn't be there physically, there was a bond of "sharing" which is truly uniqe among this MD community.

I just wish I could help more. Dang old car! But even if it would make it to Indiana, right now I don't have the gas money to get there. So ... thoughts, prayers and suggestions to Luvvy are all I can do right now.
I just saw some pics of the flooding in Wis. and Ind. on the news tonight. I'm so so sorry y'all. Things will get better. Prayers and more prayers going out. Will send out an SOS to my friends to pray for y'all also.

I'm keeping everyone in my prayers, its a shame how this spring season has been with weather being crazy everywhere! Wisconsin has been hit pretty badly with flooding also, and I know my basement looks like a swimming pool. It finally stopped raining today and was sunny out (after over a week of heavy rain daily). Hope everyone is safe atleast. Take Care-Ash

lor, I know alot of the rivers here haven't crested yet... so very sad. The Wapsipinicon River in Anamosa is already 6 feet over flood stage. I only saw a few homes so far here in town having to pump out their basements but then again I haven't seen all the damage. I'm very lucky where I live, just close enough to enjoy the Maq River, but just far and high enough away to have no concern of flooding. It's only going to get worse. I hope you are ok where you're at. I fear this summer is going to be a repeat of this past winter where we couldn't go three days without snow.

I just wish y'all could send some of the rain down to Texas. We're just about to go into drought restrictions here.

Sending prayers and best wishes to everyone effected by the storms and flooding. The video's on the news look pretty intense and devasting. Natural disasters can really turn lives upside down. Hurricane season has begun here in florida. Hopefully mother nature will be merciful.

I've just spent the last couple of hours watching video clips of the flooding ...then clips of what's still happening in China.
It sure puts my life into perspective when I realize that the only thing I can groan about is a fat knee (again), new noisy neighbors, a giant beetle that came in my open front door and scooted under my computer desk (then got lost ~shudder~)...and a poor dead stray cat out in my backyard.
I've been sending out good vibes all evening, hoping that our friends make it through the night without any more water or weather...and hoping MsPuke's electricity doesn't go out while her pool pump is needed. (And I'm smiling knowing that MOAnnie was able to salvage her computer because as with most of us, that's where her/our friends live )
Take care everyone, Laz, Loreli, Lucky, and Ash, especially -- keep us posted when you hear of anyone else who may need help or support. ~sigh~

Hugs to all of you...goodness, my heart goes out to you all! I will send out good thoughts for you!
All that water there, and here we're in a drought. I took a walk yesterday around the protected wetland here by my house....it's a 30-minute brisk walk all the way around what used to be a huge marsh/pond. Now it's reduced to two puddles. The hills surrounding my neighbourhood are all brown and dead...fire danger is very high. What a difference, huh?
