Sending prayers. The damage that water can do-- it boggles the mind.
Wishing you some sanity...some peace during all the upheaval.

I feel blessed to be here in Indiana and not have any of the flooding that my friends and family are enduring down south of me. We had bad storms, and the worst that happened here was my gutter is now hanging down.....
My son had to leave his home down in Terre Haute by boat a few days ago after the levy broke, but has since returned back with minimal damage.

I love MO Annie's spirit in the midst of her tribulation....."It's just stuff!"
and in a way that is so true.....with some losing their precious loved ones because of these storms and floods. I for one am counting my blessings....

Just talked to MOAnnie. She is sitting in an auditorium waiting for a meeting to start...she thinks its going to be about FEMA. I hope and pray that she can get some assistance or at least some temporary housing. Her boss has really stepped up to the plate and offered her a bedroom w/a private bath. She is very grateful for that. She said the house has pretty much been gutted. Today they went through the boxes and totes that were in the garage. Shes lost alot of pictures but as luck would have it some of the precious things that cant be replaced were intact. Such as, a little ceramic box that held a lock of Jamies (her daughter) baby hair. She appreciates all the prayers from her MD friends. Im just worried because she is still in "shell shock" and this is all going to come down hard.

I hope FEMA comes through this time. They didn't help much in Texas in 98. Have MOA or some friends to go to freecycle to see about getting some free used furniture to use temporarily.
I hope the rains that were supposed to hit today in Indiana did not. They certainly do not need any more rain.
Keep us posted, please.

I just talked to MOAnnie, the meeting was a farce! It wasn't FEMA, and it doesn't look like they will be there for a while, if ever.

As Annie544 said, she wasn't able to salvage much at all, but she also won't have a place to put anything for a while either. She said it may be as long as a month before she will be able to get back into her house. So, she is a little refugee for now.

I told her, all the money that you kind folks are sending for her, will be forwarded to her. I wish I had been able to get down there in time to help her, as I am sure those of you that have told me you would go do too. She said to thank all of you for being so willing to come and help, but everything is done that can be done for now. Its up to her landlord now, to get the house ready to live in again.

For you cat lovers her cats are staying with a friend.

I'm sitting here just fighting back the tears watching the news showing all of the flooding in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo and surrounding areas. It's really bad. A lot of mandatory evacuations

I'm fortunate...... very blessed to not be affected by the floods.

Prayers for all affected

My 19 yr old son lives in Independence...which is very close to Waterloo....his county is the only one that has not had a mandatory evacuation...but I am worried and his car is down right now with no way to get out even if he could go anywhere. Please pray for him and his girlfriend.

I'm writing this from a computer at the local library. I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your prayers and good thoughts. I'm also short on time, so can't post much, but I'll be at my sister's this weekend and will have FULL access to MD. I've got so many blogs swirling through my head so I'll probabaly bore ya all with the gory details.

Two things I have to mention...I have decided I will NOT use the terms victim, refugee, homeless or even "temporarily displaced". I have all my clothes in the trunk of my car, and will begin bouncing from place to place over the next few weeks...so, I am now officially a GYPSY! Sounds romantic, doesn't it and right now I'm seeing this as a new adventure.

Second, I received a re-gifting basket tonight from Annie544 that is the type Ms Puke has blogged about! You can't imagine how excited I was to receive socks, chocolates and even a coloring book! The only pair of socks I have left are covered in mud, so this was a real treat, not to mention the chocolate! There's other treasures in there too, and a great musical card with the song I WILL SURVIVE.

Thanks to everyone who offered to travel here to help me...the past week I've been blown away by everyone's generosity.

I'm praying for those in Iowa tonight...I hope no one else has to go through this.

Thanks again

Thanks for the offer Lucky, but I'm getting out of town this weekend!

There is one advantage to renting...I don't have to fix the house!

We are getting the patients from the hospital they are coming there to have their babies. We are bursting at the seams but we are so HAPPY to have them and to give them a safe and warm place to welcome the little bundles of joy.

I hope you will at least try to relax, MOA and have a little fun after all you have been through and I know what you mean about renting, sometimes is does have perks.......................

Just want ya all to know that after seeing Gypsy Annie (MOAnnie) today I realized why she is such a good friend of mine!!! When I drove into her addition today it looked like a war zone. You know you picture something in your mind but, when you actually see it...well I could never imagined it. So many people with all there possessions on the curb to be hauled away. But, what I also saw was a great sense of strength. My friend MOAnnie showed a strength I have never seen before. A positive attitude that I didnt think I would see in anybody going through what she is! A zest to move on and begin again. She has a renewed vision! She has seen the good in friends, family and even strangers! God I love this woman and Im so proud to call her my friend!!!
