Thanks all...

We're ok on top of the hill, but I think they are more concerned about cutting off all of our power, and that we on this dead end may not get out.
It should crest tomorrow.
What a mess. My son is a supervisor for the deaf telecommunications service here, and he said he worked 7 extra hours in 3 foot of sewage, trying to save expensive equipment.
For any nurses-my son was concerned about that....
As far as I know, he never got his 3rd hepatitis shot....He should also check his tetanus record...anything else?

Loreli Are you talking Hepatitis B? He should have 3 doses but adolescents between ages of 11-15 can have 2 doses and they will be fine. But should be given seperated by 4-6 months.

He should also have 2 doses of Hepatitis A ....that is due to spread of eating or drinking contimated water. It is found in stool's of others with the Hept A and is spread with contact. You never know with sewage floating around. Been there seen it with Hurricane Katrina.

Check with you CDC and also for his tetanus I am sure he might of been vaccinated when he was 11-12 yrs of age. It is good for 10 years.

I will say my prayers for you and your family.

Prayers going up for a lot of people, may you stay safe and sound...we here in Phoenix would be thrilled to take some of the water off your hands, but even here we couldn't deal with that much all at once. May it all quiet down sooner than later!

Loreli.....Hepatitis A is the biggest concern NOW...he should probably get the Hep-A shot and possibly HaIG (hepatitis A immune globulin)
In the future he should complete his Hep B series then have his immune status checked 6 months after the last shot.
It wouldn't hurt for him to have a small bottle of alcohol hand sanitizer with him.........also paper masks are available at drug stores,,,just in case he touches his face with his hands while working in these conditions............

Lor...It's trite to say I'm thinking of you. In reality, I can't even imagine the mess, the inconvenience, the extra work involved, the necessities that are not available.
Message me if I can help...do anything for you...if you need anything. I'm sorry you have to go through this.... (((((Hugs)))))

The river has risen 5 more feet since last night.
100 city blocks under water
They evacuated the hospital, and the Post Office is closed (first time in my life that has happened)
At least I haven't heard of any deaths

Keep to the high ground Lori. We've had more than enough rain here in MO. Some of our secondary highways have been closed for over a week, and until I get my truck fixed, I guess I'll keep gettying drenched on the bike every three or four days.

Well, you answered my question from the Indiana post, Lori. I'm glad you're on a hill, but I'll still worry until those waters start to recede. My prayers are with you and all in Iowa. Also with Jankia, Brenda, Vic and everyone else in those states having devastating storm damage.

Stay safe Loreli. Your state looks alot like WI now looks. Flooding everywhere, a dam gave way & others in danger, houses falling into the river, state of emergency for at least 29 WI counties, etc. Not expected to crest until Tuesday, and now theyre saying they have to open spillways into the already flooded rivers to release pressure on the other dams. They said last night to consider flood waters as toxic waste since its a mixture of pesticide, gas, oil, & sewage. Heres 2 videos. The second shows houses falling into the water. http://www.channel3000.com/news/13925968/detail.html , http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us&vid=c907c309-3086-43b9-b6af-591438ad5e0c&fg=rss&from=34 .

Well in Central WI by me it atleast stoped raining this morning yay! And now its sunny out and nice besides windy. So I'm hopeing that the rain has stoped in other parts of the state and expectually in areas where it is extremly wet and flooded. So I will continue to pray for dry weather here and wet weather in other parts of the country that are in need of some rain! -Ash
