A guy wrote me a message, here on MD. There was no incompatibility in his profile, so answering his questions, I told him a bit about my person and my attitudes. First he promised me his reply by email, in his messages here he told me nothing about himself.
When I asked for the promised email, he told me he could not tell me anything personal by email, because the US is in a state of war, all international email from there would be monitored.
If this were a sincere concern, I would call it mild paranoia. But then he had no reason to initiate contact with someone in Germany. Therefore I rather think, that this is a creative trick to manipulate someone to feed his curiosity without giving something back. I call this exploitive curiosity, but I like the originality of his agenda.

Days ago I wrote him that I will not tell anything anymore, if he does not find a way to send open mails. As expected, he did not reply. I just liked the originality of his excuse so I told the story.

I have posted this story, because I have moved on.
If I would care about having further contact with that guy, I would not expose him in such a way to be called nuts and wacko.

And, get real, and be smart. EVERYTHING here is recorded by the NSA. That's their job these days. Especially public forums, and anonymous email stuff. Even if MD doesn't consent to it, it's happening, and text analyziers are crunching it in the basements of the NSA. It's not only George Bush at work, but many presidents and administrations before him.

mangolover, sorry to appear a ignorant, but being far away from the US makes it difficult to comprehend.
What is NSA, and are you making a joke or are you serious?

NSA is short for the United States "National Security Agency", Marilu. They have been eavesdropping on electronic communications to see if any pattern emerges that would point to a terrorist cell or plans for an upcoming terrorist attack.

Thanks for explaining. I had heard in general, that communication is processed somewhere electronically for certain keywords.
But having billions of emails being sent everyday, no such machine would ever fish out the mails of someone talking about relationships. And even if for one wrong word, any one mail would ever be picked and read by a human, he would get bored after the first sentences. Nobody would search for other mails from the same person out of that huge amount of mail, if the mail is not suspicious.

final news:
I got one more mail from him, wishing me a happy new year. As a reply, I told him to read this thread, and that I do not want any more messages from him, except meaningfull personal emails. A few hours later, his profile was cancelled.
