Posts: 123 words hurt and they heal emotional wounds, gifts are like a band aid, helps to cover the wound a little bit but in the end does not really help all that much and is discarded fairly quickly..

Posts: 675 I guess being sincere is the key. Insincere gifts are hardly more meaningful than insincere words.
But if you have to choose wether to give sincere gift or say words you don't mean - the gift would be more appropriate.
( What I mean by "sincere gifts" is - when YOU WANT HER TO HAVE SOMETHING and you want it badly. Unless it's YOUR DESIRE , the gift wouldn't relly mater much ...well... except for it's market value, of course, so you'd better make it costly one. At least it would mean that you are making investment in the lady , so you are likley to hang around for a while. As they say -guys stay where they put their money, no man would walk away from his investment, right? ) That's about insincere gift, as for sincere ones - they don't have to be expensive , it might be a modest token or simply a sweet gesture of care and concern - or ...sincere words . But there's nothing more ridiculous than insincere words or insincere cheap "gift"
