I am starting this site for all of us who have lost pets. Please be respectful of this thread....no arguing, bad mouthing or scamming please. It is a place for all of us to remember, to say good-bye and to support our friends who are going through heartbreak.

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they
can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are
warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health
and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times
gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to
be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one
suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together……….

I will have a whole flock of animals waiting for me there, and each has a special place in my heart. Thank you so much for this beautiful mental image I will have with me of where all my little (and not so little) friends are waiting for me.

Don’t be sad you had to end my pain
And know that you will see me once again
God’s given me a place to wait for you
And you know what? He says He loves me too!!!

There’s lots of different critters all around
In Heaven there’s no evil to be found
So all of us just seem to get along
And Angels serenade us with their songs

People here are kind and stroke my fur
And they all seem to love it when I purr
I’m no longer sick so I am glad
Please don’t fill your days by being sad

I haven’t really gone that far away
And I’m really looking forward to the day
That we can be together up above
In this land of peace and happiness and love

Huggs EF.
Almost 3 months since my Mattie had to leave. We stayed with her until the end. No way could I even imagine leaving her there by herself. I held her, I rubbed her, told her I loved her, cried and I know she knew she was loved.
I still everynight look in the corner of the bedroom where her blanket laid and tell her I love her. And as long as I live, I will always love her.
We are blessed to have our babies, they teach us alot. Sometimes they are a lot of work. Some come in our lives when we least expect it, but need it the most.

So to Patches, my Mattie May and all the others that have crossed that bridge..

it's not good-bye, but see ya soon.

I have had many fuzzy furry feline friends (and a few canines too) head over the Rainbow Bridge. The hardest one to lose was my Merlin. He was a beautiful long haired gray tabby that an outdoor cat brought to my door. He had either been kicked in the mouth by someone or hit by a car. The vet had to restitch his mouth to put it back together. But once it healed, he became my "kissy" kitty. He loved to give kisses. He, along with 5-6 of my other cats, contracted FIP, a nasty fatal disease that is extremely contagious. When it was time to take him to the vet for the final trip I could hardly stand it. Right before the shot was administered, Merlin raised his head up and gave me a kiss. I lost it then and there. The only thing I could hold onto was that I was putting him out of the pain he was in but that was the hardest thing I have ever done.
My heart goes out to everyone who has lost an animal member of the family.

I found this on an Inspirational web site

Dogs In Heaven?

An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and looked in, it was nice grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on. They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven" he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you."

"What kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If he can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now."

"Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road."

So the old man and dog went on. They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "S'cuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?"

"Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable"

"You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere."

"Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?"

"No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in.
We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final."

The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven."

"You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?"

"That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

I've always hated the thought that my dogs wouldn't be in Heaven... if there is an afterlife, I want to share it with them....

would post there pics but only have the hard copies of them and my scanner died last month, I have had two pets die, the first dog I ever got when I was little he was a Doberman Pincher named Shadow, then the second dog I got when i was in my preteens she was a retired police dog that was a German Sheppard mix, we had to have her euthanised because she got so sick and got infections that the vet told us they couldn't fix with surgery or meds.. her name was Briska. The dog that I have right now is my littele precious puppy, my moms went out and got her for me as an easter present two years ago, she's now 3 years old and she's a precious little devil, i hope and pray that she lives well into forever because I never want to loose her, her name is Tawney
