I started playing in a poker league a few months ago. My social life isn't what I wanted it to be and I wanted that to change. In joining this poker league, I have met some of the nicest people (oh yes, and NOT so nice) and have a great time doing so.
Well last nite, there were two tournaments at a restaurant at a nearby city. I just missed the "final table" in the first tournament. I was talking to the gal who was running the tournaments and told her that "some day I would win one of the tournaments."
As predicted, that "some day" was last nite at the second tournament! I won first place and with it a whopping FIFTY dollars! (  ) At least, it paid for my two beers, burger and fries AND my gas money. Can't wait to play again!

Thanks Grumble and Sign. Wish me luck for tomorrow...I have two tournaments to play. We are even having a baby shower tomorrow for a sweet young couple who come to play. I got the baby one of those things that hang on the crib and plays music and lights up.

Congrats and good luck to you in your upcoming tournaments. I like to play too and it is amazing how good I feel, when I play on line and win a whopping $3.00.  Still, certainly beats losing, but either way, I enjoy the game.
Best wishes to you. Maybe we will all see you someday on ESPN, playing at the World Series of Poker. After all, several of recent winners of the main event were amatuer players, when they entered.

I only had 7 hours work time last week.. when I went to get my paycheck at lunch today, there was a hefty bonus added because she called me 2 hours before she needed me on Sunday and I was there for her..she doubled my paycheck.. and I really needed it too..  Hopefully, in 6 more weeks my little evil woman will be able to leave the nursing home..and I can get regular hours

Went on my company's annual fishing trip a few weeks ago and won the prize for biggest fish caught. It was a pool so everyone had to pitch in $5.00. What's funny is I had to find a babysitter for the kids and didn't have cash to pay her so the prize money came in handy and we went to Seafood City in the Bronx afterwards.

the only thing I have ever won, is one time on a "poker run", (its a motorcycle event, you get a card at each stop, best hand wins, and so forth)
I won a fifth of Jack Daniels.... the problem is I don't drink... lol, so I gave it away...

When I was about 8-9 years old, I won a game from one of the local kids' tv programs. A few years ago I won a DVD player. That's pretty much it.
Of course, my cats won many ribbons and prizes over the years at cat shows. And we did win some door prizes there too.

I won a coloring contest at Kmart when I was 10, and got a whopping $10.00 gift certificate. I won $50.00 on a scratch off ticket, and a Ken Griffey Jr. autographed baseball too.

I've won a few contests in my day, including limbo contests (remember how low can you go?) and more recently a merengue contest, but I think the oddest was my very first bet on a horse...I was underage and my cousin Frankie placed it for me. They gave him the wrong horse (or else he amended my pick...) so my horse lost but I won. ~Sigh~ left me hooked on horses for life...
