 OK, not a big deal to anyone else, but you can't believe how I've agonized and searched and searched for it for MONTHS! I've been scared to death that I threw it away accidently when I was doing some cleaning and organizing awhile back. I had a vague recollection of putting the things from our trip (back in March/April) into a basket, but have been afraid that I may have mistaken that basket for a trash basket and may have dumped it or something. Or that I was just imagining putting those things in a basket. 
I've ripped apart every piece of luggage, every purse, every file folder, every nook and cranny in this house that I could think of. 10 times!
But there it was, just a few minutes ago...in the linen closet. 
 I have no idea why I put the basket on a shelf in there, except that it had a perfume box sticking out of it  ... I swear I looked right at it it a dozen times before and never thought to dig through it.
Idjit-idjit-idjit  
But now I have my passport again!  ...for "just in case"  ~grin~
(Found a prepaid gas card, too...boy, did that $25 "devalue" since Christmas, lol!  )

THIS is exactly the reason that we should not ORGANIZE!  It makes it just toooo hard to find things!

Yep, and I've found too tht the more I look, the less I find...stop looking and it will suddenly pop up where you least expect it!

I have one of those big plastic bank envelopes i keep all the important stuff in. It is the only way I can know where I have put stuff.
I am very bad at miss placing papers..

I can just see me trying to get through immigration with one of your 20 year-old passports.  (They'd never believe I was that young. )
BTW, I know this was a dumb post ~grin~ but I'd been on a hunt all night and scored around 5 AM -- I had to tell SOMEONE, lol. (I was truly upset that I might have to reapply for a replacement...this one is good until 2011 and I'm not thrilled about holding one of the new biometric ones -- I'm delaying that inevitability as long as possible (but I feel "caged" ~shudder~ without a passport at my fingertips -- "just in case" -- kind of like others might feel if they lose their dirver's license, I suppose.  )
