Posts: 1,046 I know I sound like a gloom and doom person saying this, but.. well.. I want to be prepared. I am going to the library or bookstore for books on hand making things like soap, and canning foods, and storing foods for a long time. I have some experience in small time farming, anyone interested in getting a small community together to weather what might be coming?

Posts: 3,450 Something I've wondered about, not having done any research into it .... I have distant relatives that are paid by the government to not grow crops on their farm .... with the ethanol thing there is a higher demand, and higher prices, for things like corn .... so is the government still paying farmers to not grow when there is a much higher need for what they can supply?

Posts: 4,337 I grew up on a farm.. that's a full time job .. hard to work a "outside" job and keep a farm going too
