Dressing

I'm curious about how many men actually like to have a woman pick the clothes we wear. Personally I don't mind it with a few reservations. The way I figure it is that when she picks my clothes she's picking things that make me attractive to her. I do OK shopping for myself but occasionally I look in the mirror and think "Rodeo clown" and never where a $30 shirt again.

On the other hand there can be drawbacks. My ex wife apparently had a thing for sweaters so I ended up looking like Bill Cosby. Another girlfriend from the distant past always tried to get me to wear bicycle pants and Spongey don't do that.

I've had girls pick out my clothes for me. I don't like how I look, but then, I don't really care all that much. I used to have a statement in my profile that said - "I'm not into labels, so if that means alot to you, you can pick out the clothes." I'm a cotton and flannel kind of guy so I'm not going to wear polyester - I don't care if some famous designer thinks it's the latest thing. But basically, if they're willing to do the shopping for me, I'm willing to wear whatever crap they buy.

I'm with you there. Jeans and a T-shirt are what I wear but I do occasionally buy a nice shirt for going out.

btw, what r bicycle pants?

i know a lot of wives who pick clothes for their husbands; i'm not sure about ppl who vary n relationship ranges. i pick my husband's clothes cos he's color blind (yes, it's that bad). its very hard with the shoes cos he has a big, wide foot then he doesn't like the styles (not many choices either).

sponge, what if u met the love of ur life, and she gave u a shoulder bag cos she thought it was just darling for u (i didn't say purse)?

oops, i just read where it said men. mea culpa!

I quite like my lady picking out my clothes for me, it shows she cares about me, and plus I hate shopping. I'm pertty flexible about what I wear, just so long as it's comfortable and not pink.

I know. It's a man's thread, but Mama Lecri--

Bicycle pants are those leotard looking shorts--real stretchy, that show off a man's bulge. They're tight, above the knee. Makes them look like an athletic ballerina.

Sorry guys, IMO.

My sis bought her husband a really great looking shirt for Christmas. Very soft, almost suede-like, pendleton fabric, solid subtle green. She asked some men in the clothing store for their opinions, and definitely made a perfect choice.

Me, I have terrible taste in men's clothing. You do not want me shopping for you.

Not a mans thread at all. I appreciate the input from women.

I'm pretty good at buying the perfect gifts for most women but I used to take a female friend shopping when I bought clothes for my wife. Mostly the friend was there to give me a thumbs up or thumbs down but I usually did OK.

Personaly, i enjoy shopping for my man, when I have one. Never met many men that liked shopping so it felt good to do it for them. Doesn't hurt that then he always look good to me as well!

such a gentleman. ty, sponge

eek n yipe on the bicycle pants (unless its private viewing n he doesn't mind). i just remember how hard it was to help my friend find shoes; same prob w/hubby. poor men dont have the choices we have. if i could design men's clothes, i'd do it (and u would probably think u look like guy lombardo).

i know my place -- definitely not at the men's store.

One thing I buy on my own is suits and sports coats (dress-up stuff). I worked in the men's clothing business for years and know this stuff better than most women. But then, I don't wear them that often.

My brother's ex wife had him dressed like a dork most of the time...When they split up I had to take him shopping. Poor guy didn't know that those old flat velcro sneakers from the 80s were not chick magnets...

I think most men look good in whatever they put on. It is rare when I see a man and think OMygosh he needs help dressing himself.

Oh Buni, I've seen so many! Oftentimes I can pick out a single man just by the way he's dressed

Well, I guess there is the occasional guy that looks like he needs help around this area, but the bad thing is I think some of them dress weird on purpose...

tinker, have i mentioned ur a stinker?

wanda, u saw my ex. he used 2 dress like fonzie's dirty cousin! i refused to go anywhere with him looking like that. he never bought clothes, but he was presentable when he followed me.

these days, men truly care about their appearance. how drastically has men's clothing changed, pete, since men have changed about appearance sake? my grandfather is the spiffy sort. he's always had his hats, jackets, oxford shirts and dress shoes. that man won't wear sneakers!

I like to dress decent for her, I couldn't care less if it's for me. I do OK but I do need to take a last look at what I buy before I go out in public wearing it.

Ive got a really nice buttondown western type shirt in the closet I wore for about 10 minutes one day. It's red white and black. I don't know what came over me. The rodeoclown in me I guess.

I hate to admit it but I already know how. It was one of those things that my ex wife demanded and I obediently obeyed.
