Ugh, he sounds like an ugly one. 
Sandchute (Cayman Islands), Jacksonboy, RainSongSpirit, Lobo (and a bunch of others) in Mississippi, and of course Winelover, MetryTechie and all the NO/Louisiana crowd (I think SweetRed is far enough north to stay safe)...these are just off the top of my head. I know there are dozens I've missed, but best wishes for a safe passage to all.
(I did have one technical question about some of the "temporary housing" that many Gulf residents are still in since Katrina: Everyone's been asked to evacuate inland, whether they're in a cottage or FEMA trailer. Um, if they have a trailer, why can't they just move the whole thing inland for awhile? Don't they have wheels?  There are certainly enough big azz pickup trucks with hitches around there -- what would it take to form a 4 hour humanitarian convoy...a tank of gas and a little compassion?  I'd be willing to fill up one truck if necessary...and if it made it possible that at least one family doesn't become homeless again.)

Good thought to put out there, SunBabe. My sister and brother-in-law live near NO and are headed to Arkansas in the morning. There is still no sense of 'normal' after 3 years.

Sunny...aren't these mobile homes that would require a semi to move them?

Most of all, the city wants to get rid of the trailers that aren't needed. Some people have already moved into their houses but haven't called FEMA to cart their old trailers away. Horan says that others use them as storage — or even rent them out, which is illegal.
Officials are also worried that if another hurricane strikes, the trailers could be blown around and cause more damage.
so as said, disconnecting and prepping might be more time consuming than saving the trailers...safety
