Have you ever wondered if your life could be better? Of course most of us have but do we do anything to make it better? Oh many of us buy the self help books but get nowhere. I want a better life and somehow I stumbled upon this book I want to share. Life Makeovers by Cheryl Richardson and in summary it holds 52 practical ways to improve your life one week at a time.
I like this book so much because instead of me reading a better way I am also involved in the process. WOW what a novel idea for the author to introduce me to myself! I will say the first exercise has been a bit difficult for me. I had to write 25 accomplishments I am most proud of over the past 12 months. It is strange to me to brag on myself as I am sure for many others it is as well. I was able to and it felt good to acknowledge me. As the author states Seeing the good in others starts with seeing the good in ourselves.
So with that said I hope each of us can find the good within ourselves …………I challenge each of you to share at least one accomplishment you’ve made in the past 12 months. Only fair for me to list one as well. I think one of my big ones would be realizing I don’t need a man in my life. I still would like to have a man in my life but it doesn’t consume me anymore. I use to be on several sites and actively looking for “him” but that ended months ago. Not to say I don’t on occasion slip back into that way of thinking but now I come back to reality much quicker.
So what can you share? I actually did this as a blog but Teddybearagain suggested this might be another good place for it so well here goes.

Moved into a modern Condo & she went out for a week, so I changed the locks, put in a pool table ... and quit smoking...yep all improved.. peace and quiet is mind expanding! read a new book every week [no not fiction] and am developing characters for my sci-fi/fantasy manuscript...

Painter..
She said she was going to the market... her plans for the Great Room were ...well not that exciting.. 2 bedrooms, walkin closets the size of small bedrooms, 2 baths and her stuff filled'em all and she disappears? Not in my world..
put her stuff in the storage room near to the ceiling.. but out next to the garage..
She still hasn't come to get it... and she discovered her key no longer worked last December.. I had a very merry christmas and happier New Year

25 accomplishments I am most proud of over the past 12 months. WTG Jankia, and Roving...congrats on knowing what you really wanted and doing it!
My biggest one was changing my 'temporary timeout' from dating to a permanent one. It's strange trusting someone that much after decades of never even really considering relationships as anything but temporary.

Jankia...I mean this in the best way possible
I'm in the process of taking the biggest leap of faith I ever have in my life...packing up and moving 1800 miles with no job.
God's been really good to me the past few months, so I'm just taking one day at a time, knowing it will all fall into place when the time is right.

In the last 12 months I've...
-lost 30 pounds (70 in total) -gotten out of a loveless relationship -gotten into the best relationship I've ever had -discovered who my real friends are -strengthened my bond with my sister -become more responsible because i basically had to live on my own -worked out many of my issues -got some closure with my ex which brought a lot of my relationship issues to a close -earned my first A in college -got off academic probation -successfully got a job and went there almost every time i had to go even though i hated it -went to german class every week at night for three hours even though i hated it and passed the class -gave up an addiction

25? In a YEAR?
I can't think of even one "accomplishment" -- anything I've actually finished -- in the past year (or more)...well, except for reading at least 150-200 books, lol. I'm not particularly proud of that feat, though.
Just one thing I'm proud of? I hung the doors on my little bedroom...myself. Someday I may actually get around to painting them and putting the handles on.
LOL, I've been getting out of bed almost every day (which is an accomplishment) and sometimes even getting out of the house (which is like a miracle, relatively speaking ) Sometimes I even talk to people when I'm out!

I cleaned out and organized my junk drawer. Ok, so that was a by-product of looking for the masking tape, but it was an accomplishment.
Oh, no masking tape, but 3 rolls of clear packing tape, 1 of straping tape, a roll of duct tape, 6 tubes or squeeze bottles of instant glue, and a tube of graphite.

Yep, all in your bottom drawer next to your refrigerator. I put them there 4 or 5 years ago. (the making tape would have been dried out and useless by now anyway, lol)

lets see in the past year??
tons of household projects and car projects and sewing projects, repairs etc. and going thru closets and utility closets and got rid of tons of stuff via yard sale and donations and something I thought I had given up on.. I let my heart open up again .. big accomplishment there.. ... and found my love that is the biggest and best of all

I quit trying to be "in control" of my life -- knowing that THIS time things were beyond MY control. I completely "Let Go & Let God" and after a very long while came to the conclusion that life is, indeed worth living.
Oh yeah.... and I've made it through some serious health issues (as most of you know) with flying colors - but by the Grace of God!
I believe this is a great thread for daily support. Like getting SunBabe outta bed & patting her on the back for doing so. Like Loreli said - every day is an accomplishment of some sort. & like reminding me to breathe in / breathe out & breathe deep.
OH !!!! and being off the oxygen tank during the day!!! (as long as I don move too quickly)

I quit trying to be "in control" of my life Pat...I think this is a lesson for all of us, we each get the opportunity to do it in different ways. Mine was Mother Nature, yours was your health. For others it could be the unexpected break up, or losing a job.
I'm trying to find that fine line between letting go, and doing nothing.
I agree...this could be a great encouragement thread.. Thanks for starting it Ocean
