I am so tired of working for other companies, especially when I did a good job and they let me go. I just lost a job, was told I did an excellent job on it, then saw my job posted online on a couple of job sites at a lower rate of pay, grrrrr. I have had it with employers.
I am the creative type, I had thought about doing paintings to sell, but in this economy I think it's probably a bad idea since people are just trying to get by and probably would not be buying them at the moment.
Anyone have suggestions for a fun inexpensive home based business? I live in a condo so I can't really get major deliveries of goods here so I don't know where to go from here.
My idea was a clothing thrift store, but the leases cost so much that being unemployed, I just can't afford that. So it has to be home based. I see where companies like Alpine Express etc. hire home based workers, but that would only net me around $8-$9,000 a year, not enough to live on.
I'm at a standstill right now, all suggestions are welcome.
Thanx guys, I appreciate it!

Not sure if they have these there but what about "Partylite Candles" or "the Body Shop bath products?"
I know a girl in my town who does paintings for people. She does REALLY well actually. Actually she's doing MY painting. (She did one for me earlier this year, now she's revamping it) She paints for weddings, birthday gifts, anniversaries. Not hard to give it a try!
Good luck in whatever you choose!

Why not try selling your paintings? You would be surprised. Even in THIS ecomony, people still want to buy my dad's paintings.

Just a thought .... set up a blog about painting, showcase them, write topics regularly, monetize it with ads .... might lead to something and it isn't a huge investment.

You could always try the nude web cam thing. It must be lucrative & fun, because every day I get mail from women who want me to join their website (for a small fee of course). Just stay home all day, spend a little time walking around naked and let the voyeurs have a sneak peak.
Yes, I am kidding. I don't believe that would fit in any way with the lady that you are. Then again, as lovely as you are, it would work.
I wish that I had a real suggestion that would prove to be helpful.I just can't think of one. If you do have the talent to paint, then giving that a try is certainly worth doing. If it works, then you have total control of your own destiny. If not, then it has cost you little beyond the time & equipment involved. Best wishes & good luck to you.

Just be careful of online ads for "Work from Home" jobs. Not to be negative, but most of those are scams. REALLY check out any such companies advertising.
Best of luck to you!

luneib! I think since you already do the painting it would be a good way to "get out there." Check around different places that you might be able to put them on display with your card attached....local restaurants, the office of the condos you live in, anywhere you might know someone who has public thru their place of business. There is a local furniture upholsterer here in my town who has someones paintings on display in his shop.
Also, service based businesses are hot now, too. whether it's pet sitting, errand running, cooking services, cleaning services, party planning, gardening, weed pulling, helping the elderly....I could go on & on.
I'd be very leary of the home based businesses you see ads for, too...and you need to keep in mind, you aren't gonna make the kind of money getting something started up at home like you would make working for a larger company. Good luck!

Several artists that I know also generate some income by photographing, digitizing, and printing note cards of their art. There are people who love to have local artists' work, but can't afford the real thing. I've seen cards in art centers, but also in local coffee shops (the independents) and bookstores.
You will keep us posted, luneib, yes?

Lune...let me know if you find something. I'm looking to change jobs. Less stress and more time with my kids. I'm not good enough at my present job to stay there.

A couple of ladies I have worked with got into E-Bay.. one lady said her daughter went out last christmas and bought up all she could find of some hot item for christmas, I forget what it was.. so when the stores run out.. they had a bunch and sold them on Ebay for a profit.. and.. a clue she said.. is if you sell an item..multiples.. you don't have to keep posting it or something like that.. you just have to set it up once.. and keep selling..

I luv ya lynn
Me either... It's stress, and more stress, and stress on top of stress....I'm human and have 3 children to raise....how much can a person take... .. Thinking it was the wrong time in life to take this job. I think I'm giving my notice. I don't want to hurt my health and not live long enough to see my kids grad high school. It's to that point...
