It is in the darkness and lonliness of the night that we often realize the opportunities we let us pass by during the lightness.

We promise ourselves as we drift off to sleep, that tomorrow we will listen to our gut, yet, tomorrow comes, and we choose to think tomorrow will be better.

What if tomorrow never comes my friend?

This is a bit morbid to read while preparing to go thru a hurricane tonight -- and after two power blips which left us for a short time in deep darkness...

Lacy, no intent towards those suffering through the storms/hurricane. Simply what was in my head tonight. I respect your post though, and am praying with the rest of our nation that Ike is gentle on our land, and that those in the path are safe from harms way.

I know... just struck me a little strange...

...but you are right -- there are no guarantees for tomorrow...

when I was 17 my maternal grandmother was in the hospital, my parents were going to see her, and I said, "I'll go tomorrow"...

she passed away that night,

since that time, I hug all family members when I see them, I always tell my friends and family that I care, and how I care....

I try to live with no regrets, make the most of each day, as if it could be my last...

it's all any of us can do...

I'm with ya grumble - when I was in high school my grandfather passed away, my parents and grandmother wouldn't let us "kids" go in and see him, they didn't think we would want to see him like he was - none of us got the chance to tell him goodbye. From that day forward, everytime I am with someone I love/care for, I tell them what they mean to me before I leave. Even last weekend when I was with my dad, we were in a heated discussion but when my sister and I left, I went and gave him a hug and told him how much I loved him. He is in a nursing home 4 hours away from me - every time I see him or talk to him could be the last time.

Tomorrow always comes
Right, tomorrow always does. But, we may not be here to be a part of it to enjoy it, and let others know how we feel.

Life is precious, and so is each day given. We influence everyone we come in contact with every day, even if we know it or not. Read the book, The Five People You Meet In Heaven, theres a chapter that talks about someone "missing" being n a car accident. The story goes on to talk about the person who came along after him and was in that accident. One of the people he meets in heaven. It speaks volumes to this subject.

Wow, Carol, I haven't come across too many who have heard of the book, let alone read it! It was an awesome book, wasn't it!

I think our five may surprise us

I have it listed as one of my "must reads" on my space profile! I know I will be surprised but its also fun sometimes to think who you think it might be - some days I get in one of my "thought provokingly profound" moods! I love books like that

My daughter bought me that book to read on the plane on the way home one time. It was a great read. Wonder if I still have it, I'd like to read it again.

Freckles, I didn't know they made a movie! I will have to see if I can find it. Is it as good as the book?

I read the book-loved it
Saw the movie-eh

I tell my kids (if I see them) every day that I love them. And my grandkids. I hug and kiss them. My granddaughter is only one and a half, and she comes at me with her mouth wide open. She gives really gooey kisses
I call my parents every day and go to their house a couple times a week.

I'd like to say I live every day as if it were my last....but I know better
