I was just wondering if any of you get embarrassed if people you know or even people that know you, know if you have a profile on a singles site.
I saw on a post about the pics that some don't want to post pics because someone they know might see them.
Is this something that you can relate to?

Hey girl! No, but, I really don't care what people think anyway. As a matter of fact, where is your picture?

Hello! Ummmmm, well, uhhh,, I guess I need to get one up one of these days, don't I ?
I'm scared my family and friends might see me on here? What would they think?
I'm working on the pic...the only one I found is from 5 years ago..
I might be able to get one out of my nieces digital camera if the puter will stop fighting it...

Nope, family and friends are fully aware of it and most of the singles are doing the same. We compare notes and critique each other occasionally too...males and females.

Buni, my first pic was five years old, but, I figured it was something........digital cameras are great as you can take the pics yourself......hundreds if necessary to find one you like and edit it Anyway, it is a little scary at first to post a picture so I feel for ya girl. If you want some reassurance Waiting would be happy to give you her e-mail address, look at the pic first and convince you that you are as cute as your great personality.

I don't mind that family and friends know I'm here. Heck, as you know, my sister, Sunny, is the one who dragged me in here. I was reluctant initially to have my picture posted because I was worried that clients of mine might see it and have it effect our professional relationship. That hasn't happened in the 5 years I've been here, but then I don't have it posted many places either. Good question, though Buni...and yeah, work on that picture, huh? personally, I'd like one with you in pink bunny ears....

Cape Cod - especially in Winter - is a very, very small place.
Nantucket is even smaller.
I have been with many friends who say to each other, "Hey! I like your ad. Have you seen mine?"
There are very few "secrets" on the Cape - less on the Islands.
So, the answer is "No; it was and is not at all embarrassing."
By the way, take advantage of you-know-who while she is in her "Good Samaritan" mose and let her help with photo selection. Just do not listen to anything she says about "hair-do."

My family and friends all know I have a profile here. I plan on setting both my mom and aunt up here, and neither one is in opposition. In fact, if you read my blog you will find a funny story.
I talked my best friend into joining here, and she just posted for the first time, yesterday. She is sunsamza.
This is pretty darned funny too. Her profile says she's a man. Eek!!!!!!!!! We've put in a report to MD, and hopefully she will have a sex change soon.

Buni this is exactly what I was saying on my thread...
I worry about this too. I am a twenty-one-year-old at university with plenty of opportunities to meet people and my friends have told me I'm attractive but I can't seem to meet the right guy - usually we're looking for different things. This is why I tried a dating site and I am worried what people who I know would think if they saw my profile on here.
My parents would be concerned and my friends might think I was a wierd for doing it. Not just this, I am British and I sense Brits in general are a lot more conservative about these things than you Americans. I have honestly never met someone who has told me they met their partner on a dating website and the general thought on this from people here is that it is desperate and dangerous.

looks at profiles A former emploer's wife used to do that and, periodically, hand out screen names and sites of people she thought would make a good match for anyone she felt should have a significant other.

Ok, I uploaded one from about 4-5 years ago...I look about the same, but with way darker hair now It says pending so I hope it shows up soon.
Soli, I have changed since the Halloween pics...lost some of that fat that was stuck on me.The only other pic I have of me in bunny ears is one that someone put my face onto another body so I would look kinda like a playboy bunny....
Thanx waiting....when I have some new ones taken I'm gonna take you up on your offer
I'm not really worried if anyone knows I'm on here...I think most people who know me know I am...

in the early 90s, no one would admit to looking for honeys online because it smacked of desperation, but ppl did it anyway. now, i have met some of the nicest ppl online, n i tell ppl the same. in fact, we have messenger together.
my relatives were only embarassed when i started talking smack n front of the local media. mom asked if i were n college to learn or start a revolution. heaven says revolution is a good thing, and she would lie to me. we all want to change a little something about our corner.

Have I not warned you about the INTERNAL AFFAIRS people?
No Cross-Threading.
By the way, it was a Revolution that enabled us to be the magnificent country we have become and the envy of the world - free and otherwise.

The family and friends already know that I'm lonely. They wouldn't be family and friends if they didn't want me looking everywhere possible.

There are definitely drawbacks to having your picture on the net. I mean like hey...haven't we met before? Oh no we have never met....so where do I remember you from? Later that evening, you remember that you downloaded her picture and have been staring at it for hours, fantacizing, falling in love, dreaming of her and thinking that she really knows you. Now she is your desktop cutie who fills the background of your computer. She's almost like family. You do a quick google and find her address then her phone number. You call and she screams. My god are we here all alone? My name isn't Julie she says and you hang up forgetting she has caller ID. Now your number is blocked. She goes to the gunshop and buys a 357 magnum. She tells her sister who has a friend of a friend of a friend of hers who thinks they know you and that ain't right. It goes on forever. You need to start working somewhere else and get a life. Maybe try aroma therapy. Oh yea, back to my family? They could care less. They always love anyone who loves me. Thank God they say, someone really loves him.
