Not giving advice is sometimes the best advice at all.
Understand? Agree?

Yep.. I have learned over the years to just keep my yap shut unless my kids want my input. Man... it's really hard to bite the tongue at times

Sometimes it's best just to say "It's your decision. List the pros and cons and make your decision." And then step back out of the way.

Ever have a good friend ask you for advice, and when you give it, they get pissed off with you?

I had a friend for six years who was full of advice that I did not seek. The advice was also often unwelcome. I got so fed up that I ended up telling her how I felt, and not so nicely. Suffice it to say....we are currently not on speaking terms. So sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut.

I guess I don't give advice as "You should do this ....", as much as saying "This is what I would do ..." ..... and I avoid doing that as much as I can, also .... guess I'm afraid that something I suggest would make a situation worse, or create a problem in a friendship.

Back in '96 a good friend suggested I get rid of the mullet. Fast forward 12 years and I now own the carnival rather than work the funnel cake stand. Thank you bearded lady.

Do you ever want to give advice but don't, then when something turns out badly that you chose not to give your input on you feel guilt?

see this is why not being PC or holding back is me.. Granted it might sting or get me in trouble at times but least the person knows where I'm coming from and won't give a line of shit just to ease them so to speak

Sometimes you just have to ask them, "Can I say something?" They'll let you know if they want any input or not.

Advice must be given tactfully to friends, I'd rather not say much, it's just easier that way.

If asked for, I will give my opinion/thoughts on a matter. Have even been told that they like coming to me as I don't sugar coat things!
Advise - nope, aside from look at the situation from as many angles as possible, weigh the pros and cons, then make a decision that seems best at the time. You might find out later it wasn't the right choice, but as long as you were as informed as possible and it was the best action (or non-action) at that moment, one cannot expect any more nor beat themselves up about it after the fact.
