okay me and mac and the kids are doing a haunted house this year and I could really use some CHEAP ideas for it.. we already have a graveyard in mind with a open dug up coffin with a body inside that comes to life, a caged psycho that breaks outta the cage ( old pallets) and chases people to the end of the chain.. a guy being whipped and tortured screaming and assorted chouls flying down from the roof (we are making those) and my Tommy greeting folks as the Vampire known as Tom any other ideas are very welcome and please keep in mind they need to be CHEAP so we can hand out candy too haha heres a pic of Tom semi in costume I'l prolly spring for the glue on fangs what do you guys think??

I think you have a problem with Tom though. Even with those teeth he is going to have the girls swooning...
Take an old basketball or something as big, throw a sheet over it and hang it from a tree.

My dad was really into decorating their home in FL. The garage became a haunted house every year for Halloween. One of my former FL neighbors, still would reminisce with me about it when I was living there these last couple of years. One year he made a wooden coffin and I would be the stiff lying in it. He had my x husband (we were still married then) because he was 6'6", he got to be Frankenstein. My sister would have her head sticking thru a table with a big hole cut in it, cover the table with a bloody sheet so her body couldn't be seen, and become a talking, severed head. If that wasn't scary enough, when the kids would be leaving with the treats that mom had just put in their bags, dad would be hiding behind a big bush with a metal garbage can lying on it's side which was used as an amplifier. He had drilled a hole in the bottom, placed a cord thru it, put rosin on the cord, and then pull it, making the loudest roar you could ever imagine! Worse than any lion! The kids would run and scream, spilling candy all over the driveway which he'd scoop up and pass out the following year........ha ha, I made up that last part.
.....no wonder I still love Halloween....

Becky PVC pipe is cheap and you can cut it to lengths and use joints to connect arms and etc and stake them in the ground and cover with costumes/sheets/material/old clothes then add a mask or old wig from goodwill and etc and monsters are born ... or even stuff old clothes with hay add heads made from paper shaped and covered ......
also the headstones can be made from sheets of 4' x 8' styrofoam insulation cheap just some cheap ideas
yep i do halloween big time .. who would have guessed ..... yep i even have a real casket i use

annie, it is a great gimmick, for sure! I used to yell stuff to her from my coffin, just to crack her up and break her concentration. Fun stuff.

Becky, the Oct. 20 volume of Womens World has a lot of good ideas in it. One of the cheapest ones is to get a bunch of white balloons. Paint black eyes on them, hang them in clusters from the trees and it looks like floating ghostly faces!
