Ok, this is a different kind of thread....it's a recipe the kids' Great Gramma wrote for Me back in 1994.
Do you have any cherished memories or momento's that your grandparents have left you, or given to you out of Love. I have Many, but this one is framed with her picture next to it in my kitchen. It's in her loving hand writing also! She passed away when we lived in TX June, 18, 2000..the day of my daughters birthday, her namesake I couldn't get home for wake or funeral. I did write a poem for her also, I'll have to dig out.
Suprise Cake, by Great Gramma W. 1994
Turn off TV. Remove toys from counter top. Measure 2 cups of flour. Get baking powder. Remove Jasons hands from flour. Put flour, baking power & salt in sifter. Vaccum this mixture off the floor where Cianna spilled it. Get the eggs and answer the phone. Separate the eggs and warm Matt's bottle. Help Carlee with a new math problem, the old reliable way. Grease and flour the pan. There's the damned Landlord at the door!! Take at least an inch of salt out of the greased cakepan. Look for Carah outside, since she's driven the car into the corn crib already once, at 2 y/o. Put the whole mess in the trash can. Put the dishes in the sink. Call the bakery.!! Take 2 valuim and lay down!!!!
RIP Great Gramma Ida....We love and miss You SO VERY MUCH!!

Thanks Ladies...She was ABSOLUTELY the best friend a woman could ever want.
I never knew the meaning of "eat a little crow" until I met her. She said it all the time, and then after a while, explained to me what it meant.
When I found out I was pregnant with Matt, I called her 1st, crying saying, "Gramma, I don't know if I can raise 5 kids", Her response..."I don't think much of a mother hen who can raise 4 chicks and not 5." She raised 9 children. All her bio children too. Not including the grandchildren she raised also. Kinda like I'm doing now.
A wonderful, wise, spirited lovedly woman
