Sometimes I marvel at how seriously people take the forums - in terms of relationships, friendships, & even enemies.
Let me say first off, if a friendship/relationship has gotten to the point of talking regularily on the phone - then that's not the category I'm talking about.
I'm talking about your friends that you banter with in the forums, & occasionally email. Example: I have a couple of friends that I've sent emails out to, but haven't heard back from them. If I never hear back from them - not a big deal. I really don't know them, so no harm done. Or the opposite case, where people take friendly banter & assumes "friends/lovers for life."
So how serious do you take it? Do people you've only posted or emailed with really have the power to affect your day one way or the other?
Personally, I have to say that I'm affected the way I want to be- I take in all the laughs & smiles, & disregard the bullshit. Life is to short.

So how serious do you take it? Do people you've only posted or emailed with really have the power to affect your day one way or the other If we're joking around, I take nothing seriously! Yes, I do look forward to seeing and emailing some of these people daily
Since MOST of them know me inside and out from my blogs about my life, since the night I lost my son, I TRUELY LOVE THEM! ...this is my other family! Do they affect me in any way or other....OF COURSE THEY DO!! They're GREAT FREINDS, And Hopefully I'll meet All of them some day. I'm a person across the state, country, oceans and I have feelings just like the other people behind the monitor, reading what I type.

one thing i ocasionaly learn from irc networks is that there are no virtual feelings inside a comunity , so some stuff should be taken seriously while other stuff should be disregarded (ocasional scammers etc, etc). Afterall , even tho we comunicate on a virtual level we are just people and as people we have a tendency to bound.
my opinion correct me if im wrong
I'm a person across the state, country, oceans guess she is talking about me
gonna hide now lol

Well I don't take it too seriously...I do however have serious relationships with some on here but that's between us. We are friends, family what have you...I dislike being attacked...
Honestly though, I probably will whine about it but I won't give a shit about it in my real life...I don't care one way or the other...I just have this thing where I think everyone should worship the ground I walk on When they don't...I get irked...It's allright though, it's not like they are ever going to be with me, live next door to me or do me so it's all good

Not terribly seriously. Not the forums anyway. The forums are a joke.
There is a very small handful of people that I converse with regularly that I consider friends, good friends, and I would truly miss them if we lost contact.
As far as the rest - well, I just sit back and watch the show.

For me, The MD forums are just fun and games. I come here for laughs and maybe form a few friendships along the way. There is no way, in any size, shape, or form, that I'm going to let what a stranger on the internet types piss me off, hurt my feelings, or ruin my day or even my life.
However, I have become close to a few people here and have even met some in person. There are those that I regularly email, IM, or even talk with on the phone. There are a select few who have proven that true friendships can be formed online. There are even those who have taken time to help me when I needed help. I thank them very much and they know who they are. And if any of these disappeared from my life, I would be very upset, indeed.

Full disclosure. The idea for this came from the "Why are you here why do you stay thread"
People that I'd just assume stay around sound as if they are thinking of leaving.
They aren't people I've dealt with outside of the forums, save a couple of emails here or there.
I guess I'd like them to take the fun & disregard the bullshit. More fun is a good thing as near as I can tell.

^ You just take the emoticons seriously
Loreli is right though...There are quite a few fakes here, a few whacko's as well, ut the good people sprinkled in between are what make MD so great

When it ceases to be fun, MD will be a very dead place.

Internet Serious Factor.
For me, personally, on a scale of 1-10 I am right around 0.0016 or so.
Its dangerous to get above 0.0250 on the internet serious scale.

If you take this serious - you really need to get a life. There are some great people here but this is a place to have fun, a way to release so of life's everyday tensions.

If you take this serious - you really need to get a life. When you are home bound with an illness and "can't get a life", sometimes not being able to "get out" to meet "real friends", the friends we make here do become part of our lives! We email each other, chat on messenger, talk on the phone, sometimes meet in real life. Just because there's a monitor separating us, doesn't mean we don't have feelings and emotions. I'm not saying "falling for a screen~name" either....I'm talking about REAL FRIENDS!
I would say it's Part of our Lives....JMHO! I do have a life with my children and family, grandchildren, etc...but there are people here that really relate to what I'm going through
