My old cell phone finally bit the dust. It fought the good fight. (Moment of silence please.)
So time for a new one. Off to the cell phone store. The very friendly, knowledgable gal helping me was 25 - max. She's trying to impress me with all the internet this, blue tooth that, video the other thing.
I told her, "you know, I'm young enough to be hip to technology, phones, txting etc. But I'm also old enough to miss the days when a phone was just a phone." At this point, the gal helping me is quite sure I live in a cave somewhere. She'd give up oxygen before she'd up her crackberry.
But why would I check me email on this little thing? I have a pc with a 19" LCD flat panel at home.
Camera or video on this little thing? I have a digital cam & camcorder that is a million times better in quality.
Internet? I prefer to surf for porn in the privacy of my own home - thank you very much. (Just kidding - sort of.)
So I got a phone, & I have to say, it's pretty kewl. Touch screen, flips open to full keyboard. It does internet, gps, blah blah blah. All features I'll never use.
Is it just me, or have these phone's gone way overboard? I'm not picking on anyone who enjoys all the gadgetry. I think it's pretty neat myself. I'm just wondering how necessary is it.
I guess that's just the door prize for being old enough to remember a world without internet or cell phones.

I got a new phone a couple of weeks ago....it was cheaper than buying a new battery for it. All I know is,now whenever my phone rings the Trans Siberian Orchestra let's me know........whoo hooo! ( $2.99 for the download)

If didn't have an hour commute each way for work, I'd probably still have one, but on with 1/10 the capabilities this thing has.

My little cheap phone plays "Gunpowder and Lead" to let me know someone is calling ...It doesn't have the cute little keyboard and stuff on it though

My simple phone dies a few months ago. I had it for 5 years. Fortunately I was eligible for an upgrade and got the simplest one....for free. 
Now my new one does take pics and videos, but I rarely use it because I don't know how to get the pics out of my phone. And i never use the internet. If I can't live without the internet when I'm away from home, then I need to go to Internet Anonymous.
I have been known to throw out a text or two but at 20 cents a pop, it's not something I do often. I thought a phone was for calling and talking to someone.

I kept wondering why my phone bills were $20-40 higher each month, and the charges were listed under "data"on my bill. Found out that meant it was because of all the texting and pictures I receive and send each month (my kids and grandkids are the culprits...lol). So I upgrated my text messaging to a flat fee of $5 per month for 250 messages or pix. We'll never go over that limit! Also, I got my phone for $19 after a $50 rebate and it's purple....

I love mine too! I don't have a landline. No worries about tele marketers calling cell phones  It's a razor, so nothing really fancy, just the kind i like, nothing fancy!
I have the camera, yes use it often, but picture quality isn't as good of course as my digi.
Free unlimited text messages...
I don't use the internet, although I do have it.
It's nice when driving long distances like to TN to see my daughter.
Like i said, I wouldn't have a landline ever again!

Red........I love my phones.........I have to get the latest ones........it is a fetish I have it is what I am definitely known for.........  I always have to stay current on those.....it's a must for me

Keep in mind though, picture messages may cost more money. I have unlimited texts, but to send pics it's 25 cents per picture text.
