OK, so what is it that you REALLY don't want to be bothered with, or what would you REALLY love to do instead of what you really should do....? Will you be re-gifting this year? Buying Chinese instead of American? Do tell,.,..,

For starters -

I'll guiltily not send Christmas cards to those who are still sending them....that used to be my job from the time I was old enough to write legibly and I still get writer's cramp even thinking about it.

I'll probably be buying more Chinese than American, but I'll be trying to avoid it - I think I might try a 10 buck or 10% margin - if it's not a huge difference I'll buy American...but when it's big bucks my principles kind of slip a bit...

I love getting Christmas cards, but I am guilty of sending more online than in person.

I will regift-I have nice stationary I will never use, and candles, and toys still in the box that my daughter never liked. It's amazing the "brand new" things you can find around your house when you aren't looking!

Money is tight....my big thing has always been a glorious tree with ribbons and candy canes and different color scheme every year since I lived here....don't know if I can have one this year

American whenever possible.

I'd rather go on a vacation to a warm place than buy any presents....

Please forgive me....

I only send a few cards out...Certain people on MD will get their Xmas cards from me...I will however be sending photo's out this year in lieu of gifts because with buying a new house money is tight this Xmas.

...Also because I moved away from home I will be mailing most of my family and friends back home a Xmas card with the Xmas pics I'm getting taken tonight...

I try and buy Canadian...But honestly half of the time I don't check then I get home and realize everything I've bought is from China. If you buy anything at Wal-Mart 9 times out of 10 it's Chinese made.

...I will be buying gifts for a select few. Sadly I have nothing to re-gift because with my moving in August I had donated many things to the local battered woman's shelter and the Salvation Army. So they got most of the things that were still new and in boxes...Oh well at least they went somewhere good.

I confess, I'm finished with my shopping and already have everything wrapped and ready to ship this week end. I start my next year's shopping the day after Christmas.

And oh yes, I do regift. Teachers get so many things that we uh, um, don't really need. I pass those on.

I'm feeling very ambivalent about all of it.

I don't feel I have the emotional energy to deal with all the decorations, gift buying & wrapping, baking, family, etc.

But as I go through the motions for the kids ... I do kinda get into the spirit of it.

Not one of my kids has mentioned ANYTHING about what they might want ...

I'm a big kid at heart and love this time of year... I decorate the house, put up lights just so I can see the faces of those who pass by or simply stop to say it looks great and puts a smile on my face..

I can care less about the gifts and all that, christmas like all holidays has become commercialized and has lost its meaning. I like to keep it how it should be

Do we still make anything in the US?????
I do my utmost best to go with US made.
Has anyone bought safety pins from Walmart/China lately???? I never would have thought there could be "cheap" safety pins. They're horrible.

'scuse me... back on topic...

I send cards out about every five years. Not so much on purpose, but depending on finances any given year.

This year will be a larger and better one in the gift department than it has been in several years. 1 - I'm not laid off 2 - I'm not still broke from the wedding &
3 - I'm not just out of the hospital Yes - finances are much better this year.

But always - for us - $$$$ or no $$$$ -- Christmas is about the greatest gift of all - the birth of Jesus Christ. The gifts we give each other cannot even come close.

Very true Pat, we need to remember the real reason for Christmas.

I do send Christmas cards every year. It's a way of keeping in touch with people I normally don't see or communicate with all the time. Most of us do letters with the cards so we can get caught up on what everyone's been doing.

I wanna see DRS's house and lights!

I play secret Santa!
When I recently sold my home, I scaled down on most everything but Christmas trimmings. I have boxes and boxes and boxes of treasures. I couldn't part with one thing.

The econonmy looks awful, market losses have been devastating and companies have closed.Work is slow for me but always is this time of year.

People have lost their jobs and the war overseas continues, but soon comes a day when we remember the story of a couple about to have a baby,in which they are told there is no room in the Inn.

Jesus was not born into the most joyous of circumstances.
A census was being taken so people could be taxed to support a govt. they didnt care for.The rich were skimming off the top.
Merchants were taking advantage of those that were forced to make travel arrangements.
Expectant parents were not made welcome anywhere except a stable
Still the angels came to annouince
Good News,Great Joy,for All People
Luke 2:10-11

So..I'll confess to not falling to 'Humbug" this time of year GH but to "Hallelujah" instead.
