The experiment continues. Well, sort of.

I'm no longer going after duplicates, but rather the sites that use methods that seemed to have upset quite a few people.
One method is found in the registration & signing in processes:
• Find friends on the new site that are already friends of yours •
This is after all the writing about yourself & ticking all the hobbies etc ...
You've just got fed up with the whole registration part & you resign to clicking yes to everything else.
A lot of us have added the addresses, when we received emails, to our yahoo & hotmail free email accounts. So you are then asked by the new site to say yes to this request, to see if any of the members are friends of yours already. Then you would be able to link to their profiles. When it's put like that, it seems simple enough.
Unfortunately you have just given the new site all these new email addresses. All the private addresses of your friends. Then the site emails your friends, but says the invite is from you. So you get it in the neck for sending this spam to your friends.
I consider my email address as private, like my telephone number.
I really hope my friends don't give my telephone number to a bunch of strangers!
I also get invites from people I dumped years before caz they were fakers, just because they kept my email address.
Two particular sites did this to me recently - invited me & so I signed up, in order to see just how bad they were.
The first one, I think is actually a scammer's site.
In the first week, 14 girls that I met & got talking to on my yahoo messenger, turned out to be cam-girls. I was even called a "tightwad" for not wanting to join them in their site & see them play with themselves. Don't worry, they only got onto my first line of defense - that yahoo ID that I keep for first contacts.
The site allows people to write up in forums, but doesn't give the members the right to approve or deny the postings. So, I went to town on cam-girls there. An extract:

Cam-girls - I'M A TIGHTWAD !!!!!
Basically saying I didn't want more girls coming to me & then asking me to meet them on their cam-sites. I think I hit a nerve, caz I ended up in a duel with one person who resorted to the F-word as soon as his brain started to seize up. Now, in that situation, I'm quite argumentative, but with intellect on my side. A few cam-girls put in their comments & after a while, some other non-profile-picture individuals started with really disgusting vulgar insults & I left it at that.
I cancelled my membership, but the post remained in the site, as by an anonymous member, except that it was edited. The main structure was left up, but the cam-girl postings & the insults were taken out.
My conclusion of that site, was that it was a scammers & cam-girl recruiting site, disguised as a friendship site.
Be careful of those people!!

The 2nd site, is one that I'm still a member of. I haven't caught-up with all it's going ons yet, not even the tomato sauce variety.
Now hands up how many contacts would you expect to get a day? Me, sometimes 1-5 a day. That's with a few pics up. With 1 pic - about 3 a week. With no pics - 1 in 6 months, if I was lucky & that would be from someone who also didn't have a pic up.
In this other site, I have no pic up, caz it doesn't like my Apple Mac computer.
Strike 1 - as far as I'm concerned  Grrr!!
I get about 4 contacts a week, although when I first started, it was about 2 a day. Their messages were too similar for 1 thing. Also, they were really nice ladies. Not even an average looking girl. Real stunners. I never trust a site that has only stunners.
I was allowed to put up this following text in my profile:
A person who pays gets all the benefits, except they can only get replies from other people who pay. So if I pay & I like someone, there's only a 10% chance that I'll get an answer. Not really a good reason to pay then. So, I haven't paid & I can't answer you. Sorry.

So, tell you what. Send me a message & if I send a smile back, send me a 2nd message with your email & we can take if from there. Good enough?
I got the first messages, sent my smiles back to the ones I was interested in & that was the last I heard from then.
I then started getting other messages, but only from other girls that were similar to those girls I smiled at. Like someone knew what I liked - what a strange coincidence!

I've found that some of their profile text is from some others sites, pics taken & even user names. This is coincidental with fakers & scammers in general, but with this particular site, I firmly believe that the site is a scam, creating false profiles to get members to pay for the upgrade.
I haven't mentioned the names of the 2 sites directly, but their identities can be found in my text above.
That explains the odd turn of phrase 
So send out a warning to your friends - that if they are people who travel or don't have a computer at home & only have the email addresses of friends online - don't allow strangers to have them. PLEASE !!!
December 2008 - so far MD is still number 1 with me & I'm not even being paid to say that, although if you wish to pay me, go right ahead

Sorry about the length - my usual problem of being too thorough
Traditionally trained for story-telling (giving details & setting the scene).
So - take a shortcut to the end, caz the moral of any story, is to be found near the end.

Actually I understand now why some of you are confused - caz it hasn't happened to you yet.
ahhhhh I see. You are the lucky ones!!!
My prob is that I have a business online with the photos of the fiestas & caz of this, many people approach me & usually say "remember me?" as their opening line. I take between 45,000 - 80,000 pics in 1 town's fiestas & have many towns throughout the year, so remembering 1 face is sometimes a big prob for me. Unless of course she has something special 
I always say "I remember the girls, but guys - sorry".
I'm known as a joker!
So I'm associated with many friendship sites all over.
Good PR - good for business
Therefore I'm in many address books & I get many invites from this type of 'new site publicity'.
