I am having some plumbing problems and need some help. My washer is rinsing and the water is backing up into both my tub and shower and the commodes. What do I do?

Does the water from the washer drain into the same place as the wash tub?

I live in a mobile home and have a septic tank. However this was not my home originally so I don't know where anything is!

Winnie, I thought about the septic as I think it's been several years since it's been cleaned.

I'm heading to the store now for a few gallons of drano to see if that will help.

It's probably a blockage in your main drain. If it's in the house, it's possibly something that got flushed. If it's in the yard, it's possibly roots that have broken into the sewage drain or if you have a septic then it might be full. In any case, you need to call a drain cleaning plumber. Sorry.

Turn off the washer !!!!!!!!!!! You have a blockage from the house to where ever your sewage goes..... Are you in a park ? Or in the country? Or should I ask, sewer or septic ?

If you are in a park, call the maintenance guy. Try not to use any water for as long as you can..... Then use as little as necessary.

Drano will not help if your tank is full.

You are supposed to have it drained every few years. you can stretch that a little living by yourself.

I agree with Painter....do it slowly, so you don't poke holes in the pipes.
Treat your lines afterward.
Good luck!

pulls pants down to expose crack in ass......

bends over constantly...........

bangs head on pipes..........

tracks in mud, and makes a huge mess......

cusses profusely.........

pours bottle of liquid plumber in the drain knowing it wont help .......

offers no other help or assistance........

that'll be $209.45 + tax ..........

call me again if you still have problems!

Drano is one of the worse things you can put in a septic tank. It messes up the biological balance that helps keep your pipes clean.

You need a bacterial enzymatic product instead. Click here for more info.

Good luck ad if it doesn't work, you really need to call a plumber.

I would really ask at the hardware store, sign.
A preventative may not help if the damage is already done...

The enzymatic products can clear as well as prevent. I've used them and they work well.

Up here in the north, you can always find the cover to the septic, all you have to look for is the melted snow....

They charge a fee to locate the cover, they charge a fee to dig the hole, then they charge a fee to empty it.

Sign, if there is anyone you can call to do any of this for you, I highly recommend it.
You/they can go under the house, and look to see what direction the drain goes, then take a steel rod, and start poking around. The tank is a minimum of 20 ft from the house.

Ann Landers always said the grass is greener over the septic tank, but actually, it is greener over the drain field.( The tank is between the house and the drainfield ) Most septics up here are made of concrete, with a steel lid. Find the lid, dig a large hole around it, pull the cover and see how close to the top the sewage is......Oh, cover your nose, this is not pretty. This will tell you if you need it pumped, or the drain pipe cleaned.

LOL Red!

Ok I live in a mobile home park, I rent my space. So I am not in charge of cleaning the septic tank. I know it's been several years though as the opening to the tank is in my front yard and it has to be dug up every time they clean it! I'm going to call my landlord and tell him. If no one else is having problems, then it's not the septic tank.

Edited to add: Now that I'm not doing laundry, most things are working again. Except the tub still has water in it, but it's got a weird drain and drains slowly.

So, if i understand you right, the entire park shares one tank ? Then it is probably roots or a blockage in the drain pipe. This is probably still the responsibility of the owner.

You may have a problem when you take a shower too. So, make sure your shower is the first thing you do in the morning, after letting everything set over night..

Sounds like a blockage, and the rinse/spin cycle was your problem, too much water all at once.
