What a man by the last name of Marconi is famous for?
Why children are our most precious resource?
When the town you live in was so small that there was only one stop light?
Where your grandparents were born?
Why ham radio operators and their equipment are important in today's "instant" world?
What color the sky is?
How freshly cut grass smells?
We each have all sorts of knowledge that we aren't aware that we have because we dont' USE it every day. What do you know and remember that you never think about? Information that seems trivial isn't always trivial... What do you know that makes people go "hmmmmm"?

I know this is rather off subject, however it is in the current line of mention.
A couple of years ago I was servicing a high performance powerboat , in the process I fired the engine up and was making sure everything was operating correctly.
I hit the captains call exhaust cutouts opening it up straight thru the transom and hit the throttle to let er roar.
What happened next surprised me, however not nearly as much as it did a coworker and a customer walking out to ask a technical question.
As the 502 revved it shot a big bunch of nuts and other debris out the two five inch exhaust ports like a giant shotgun blast nailing my buddy and the customer.
Apparently some squirrel decided those two big shiny pipes under the swim deck were just perfect for storage purposes.

Marconi ?????
Is he not the guy Yankee Doodle was calling when he stuck a feather in his hat?
Seriously, anyone at all interested in Marconi simply must visit Massachusetts.
The original station is preserved by the NPS and most of the original equipment is on display in the town of Wellfleet (actually South Wellfleet) near the tip of Cape Cod.
Also, one of his homes exists today on the island of Nantucket - as does the house which was used as a station there and the first message from a ship at sea was received.
I wonder (there's a gal here from Newfoundland) if the relay station in Newfoundland is also a historical site?
And... maybe Devon will see this and respond about "Blighty."

SeaMonkey..yes those cute little critters will store every where. My mom and dad brought home a baby red squirrel once. My parents traveled from NH to Florida seasonally. The brought the little guy all the way from Florida to NH. Well, he lived in a bird cage and had freedom of the house. My mom had beautiful plants all over and this little guy would dig in the plants to hide his acorns.
We couldnt for the life of use at first figure out why soil was getting all over the floors. Then one day we caught him in is secret act. He use to climb in my Dad's big flannel coat and fall asleep in the arm. Dad hollared one day while putting it on...

I have an aunt that lives right behind a Mcdonalds, one time while visiting her I noticed something odd sticking out of her gutters, upon inspection I discovered that the gutters were full of old Mcdonalds french frys !
From what we could gather, the little varmints were going and collecting the things from the McDs dumpster then storing them in the gutters, My aunt said she wondered why the gutters quit working.
For all you marconi fans, ( and this is one of those little tidbits of info I know, that makes one go hmmm ) ever hear of a fella named Nathan Stubblefield ?
He reportedly invented radio when Marconi was yet a teen, however never got the credit for this feat.

We have a winner... Marconi... early radio communications using something that we call Morse Code today.
Remember the smell of spring? That sweet, somewhat musty scent in the air after the snow melts but before the leaves come out on the trees... Nothing quite like that smell.
Seamonkey... I am a ham radio operator... of course I have heard of Nathan Stubblefield.

Speaking of nuts.
Some time ago I heard a story about some numbnut and his "gal" hooking a large farm implement battery to the gals husbands bed so it would hopefully shock his pacemaker into overload and give the hapless hubby heart failure.
Well as fate would have it their devious plot failed, instead the battery got the bed frame so hot that it ignited the mattress and hapless hubby was alerted by his toasting derriere.
police investigated the scene and discovered the plot
At the time I thought it was a bunch of BS.
then I read the story on "Chuck Shepards News Of The Weird"
Just yesterday I met the guy involved !
he is selling his fishing boat to acquire money for legal expenses, When he explained why he was selling the thing I about fell over backwards with shock !
Who'd a ever thunk it.
