We have an expressway exit here and its sign says, I kid you not, "Exit 69 - Big Beaver Road".

What WERE they thinking?

I know there are more out there like this. Come on, share!

Not a street sign, but there was once a business around here with a big shiny sign that said:

Mike's Used Mattress Show Room

I'm totally NOT kidding! Can you imagine?!

We have signs around here on major highways that read "Do not pass when opposing traffic is present"

On EVERY bridge that I have ever seen in the state of Texas there are signs that read "Bridge may ice in cold weather" First time I ever saw one of those signs I about died of suffocation I was laughing so hard.

I know this is no street sign, however in my shop at work hangs an old promotional banner for a well known outboard that reads : Get more performance with a big Johnson !

Which brings up the problem those in my field have to be aware of, when speaking with a customer who owns an outboard from this company we have to be careful not to ask " What size Johnson do you have".

You've all seen signs that read "Deer Crossing"

On Nantucket, there is a "Duck Crossing" and a Yellow Graphic as well.....

by our prison, you would see missing person posters

Perhaps, I lived on a dirt road with a cottage. We had bunny crossing signs and raccoon crossing signs.

No kidding sponge... I have an aunt that lives off Elm, just up the street from Cotton and I chuckle every time I see those signs.

In addition to the deer, elk and moose crossing signs around here we have this sign out in the middle of nowhere that says "When will the animals start reading the signs?"

I one time had to deliver a boat to a private lake that had peoples names for the streets.
the main avenue was called Harry blvd , the place I had to drop off the boat was jane st., next to it was dick st.

Imagine if your residence ws at the intersection of harry and dick and you were giving directions.

but funny story...

There was a church in Waco that had a neon sign that read "Jesus Saves," and it was right next door to an old green stamp outlet with nothing much left but its sign. Some older friends of mine went to town one night and did some amateur electrical work...the sign read "Jesus Saves S&H Green Stamps" for about a week afterward. Evidently the pastor had a sense of humor!
