Right now, I'm convalescing at my parent's home after emergency surgery on Thursday. At first, I thought I was fighting an evil stomach virus but early Thursday morning, the pain was so intense that I called my neighbor at 4:00 AM to take me to the ER.
From the small hospital in Boerne, I was transported by ambulance to a San Antonio hospital. About 3 PM, I had my gallbladder removed. Luckily, I did end up with the "lap" surgery instead of being cut open like the doctor thought he was going to have to do. My family was really there for me (Big kudos to my sister in law...she stayed to take me home late on Friday evening!) My son took care of me the rest of Friday night and today my dad took me down to his house in Rockport, TX (the Texas coast BABY!! Some spring break for me!!  )
So if I'm slow in responsing or if I "owe" you an email, please be patient and don't be afraid to remind me that I'm behind on my mail. The painkillers really do affect the mind!!
The good thing is that it is over with and I'm recovering very quickly.

Oh wow.. I have been through that before... 25 yrs ago when they still cut you open... hope you recover quickly and get back on your feet. Take care

Doncha just hate those emergency surgeries?
No time to shave your legs or apply mascara.
Just not right, I tell ya.
No chuckling, now ... It probably hurts when you laugh.
I had an emergency appendectomy about 6 years ago.
ER Docs kept wanting it to be my gall bladder or an ovarian cyst ..
...'cause afterall, it's not textbook for a 50 year old woman to have appendicitis.
Anyway ... after that laproscopic deal ... It hurt like hell when I laughed or even stood up straight.

So... take 'er easy ... lounge about the spring break area ... Let someone take care of you ...

When the operation is behind you, the worst is behind you.
I had a hernia operation almost 5 years ago and I was sooo glad when it was finally over.
Luckily in your situation you didn't have all that time leading up to it to dwell on it
My mother in law had this operation, and after the removal she had to watch her grease/fat intake
Being on the mend isn't always so bad, it gives you time to relax, take care of yourself and feel better.
