My nine year old daughter entered a student writing contest. I picked her up from school today and was handed a letter.
Your child has been selected from over 11,000 NJ 4th grade students as one of the 2009 Celebrate NJ! "Best of the Best" student journalists.
There is an award ceremony and her article will be published in a big county paper and website. I was so proud of her...

Awwwwwwww that is so sweet Angel.. I remember when my oldest daughter was in school and she was selected for something very similiar about poetry. Moments like that make you so proud, don't they?  Tell your daughter congrats!!

She gave it to me....said she waited all day to share it with me. A letter addressed to the "the parent of.." always a little scary.  I was so proud of her...she worked very hard researching facts...I started to cry....

Thank you all!
What is the sweetest...she wrote the essay about my preschool that has been open for almost a year. When she found out she won...she said, "mom, now it will be in the paper and people will want to come to your school". She is a good kid...
I need to realize that she is surely a future blogger!

She should be very proud of herself!
I'm very proud of her dedication to the research. She didn't just throw it together. She interviewed teachers and researched the internet for her facts. Not bad for 9 years old!
