 your driving down the road.. and you see a " trash'' pile waiting for pick up.. something catches your eye.. ie chair, table, or just any useable item... would you take it and if you have what was your find..sweet N Louisiana

my dad once successfully defended a traveling salesman inc court and all he charged him was something the guy had stopped and found inside a box laying on the highway...it was a large wooden model of a clipper ship...he kept it displayed in hes office for yrs and I still hagve it

I've pulled several things out of our dumpsters. I needed a small table for the dvd player at school. I'd looked at some handmade child-sized picnic tables for $75 but then found a little red, yellow and blue plastic stand in the dumpster. Just perfect, great colors and it was free!
I've gotten a large wooden reindeer there too. I used to go behind stores and take old cardboard display cases. I'd spray paint them bright colors and use them for books, etc at school. Cheap way to get some good furniture that you don't care when the kids tear it apart! LOL
Edited to add: It's sort of a custom down here to put better stuff on the curb or outside the dumpster for people to take if they want it.

We use to have a one day garbage amnesty day, where you could put out anything, and they had to take it.
People driving by would take toys and furniture, appliances, etc.
They did away with it last year

my nephew loves to go dumpster diving ever since he was about 7 yrs old and his favorite uncle always takes him...drives his dad crzay with all the jumk he drags home tho!

This reminds me of when I first bought my house. My bedroom had newer carpet in it, but it was poorly taken care of...not to mention the giant German Sheppard that used it for a pee pad!!
So, I put on gloves and mask and ripped the nasty azz carpet out. I rolled it up and put it on the curb, padding and all. Not 45 minutes went by when a couple stopped by and knocked on my door, asking if I was throwing that carpet away.
(No, I dragged it out there for fun!) I told 'em to have at it!
They knew the previous owners and I could hear them whispering about how they just put that carpet in and how they couldn't believe I ripped it out! I bet they got a nice stinky surprise when they got it home and unrolled it! EWWWWW!

I never actually dove into a dumpster...but I fell into my trash can while out in the yard picking up leaves last year?? Does that count for anything?
