have it?

If so, what other features are available and do you find them helpful.

I have never utilized any of those bells and whistles and believe the telephone is for the convenience of the owner - not whoever has nothing better to do than yak away.

Plus..... lately, I have come to believe that "service" might have been designed and named by someone we all know and love.

I love Call Waiting. And Caller ID. Three-way calling comes in handy, too.

So...while god created busy for a reason, when used properly, I find these are useful tools.

@Perhaps.........do you know how long it took me to even find this thread? I had no idea what you were talking about silly man.

"Waiting" has every feature imaginable on her phone.......however, she NEVER answers it and really never even checks the voice mail messages anymore..........it sure does ring alot though. Someone must be "waiting" for something.

I primarily use my cellphone.
For a good time call 1- 888-for-wait

NEVER answers it

Which is precisely why I do not subscribe to the "features" offered by the survivors of Ma Bell.

There was a comment made somewhere by a fellow who is "moving" into his computer and that does not seem like such a far-fetched idea.

A few years back, after "not applying" for reappointment as a high school league commissioner, I rid myself of years of $400-500-per-month telephone bills.

Then, I gambled - had the telephone shut off and went over two years without a telephone.

I cannot recall anything that I missed in those years and am fast approaching a similar attitude.

Except for the internet, I make about two telephone calls each month - maybe.....

R.I.P. Ma Bell

I use a cell phone, landline phone service is way to expensive in the middle of no where! I have all the features on my phone, I love caller id, that way if work calls I can ignore it and let it go to voice mail lol. I have call waiting but rarely use that since I dont' talk on the phone all that much. And I love voicemail, easy to ignore people and then find out what they want that way.

i used to have the bells and whistles until i landed on the internet answering machine via modem. my phone has caller ID, and i have a traditional answering machine i never use. the home phone has an alert that just says i see the caller ID info; people i really like have the number where they can leave a msg.

i have a cellphone for text messaging and long distance. when i decide which broadband i want, i'm dropping ma bell. phone service has been an expensive pain. maybe i'll live to see the last phone going into a museum.

I really hate call waiting.I think it's rude. I have all the bells and whistles because it came as a package. Funny.. when I tried to turn call waiting off.. it affected the other features like, voice mail.. which I didn't use either. Meaning to say.. that it sent calls now, to a voice mail in their system rather than my answering machine. Now I'm ck'g messeges in 2 places rather than one. Call waiting is turned on again.. I just ignore it now.
Maybe this is a conundrum.

Maybe this is a conundrum

There were three good monopolies...

1. The "game," of course

2. Standard Oil

3. Ma Bell

Since the break-up of the Bell System, communications companies conceived and created countless conundrums constantly.

I agree that "call waiting" is rather rude.
That being said, I do use it, and don't hesitate to put people on "hold" on my cell phone when my teenager is calling, and, for this reason I won't live without this feature.

its not rude, waiting; its a matter of prioritizing ur calls. there are calls we dont want to miss (i remember how frustrating that damned busy signal was), and there's always someone above and beyond any calls period.

once my bank tried to talk smack about my line being busy. lol, i checked their azzes. the phones in OUR houses are for OUR convenience. btw, i suggested they use e-mail or shut the hell up. i've called buds, and they were on another line. they asked if i'd call back or whatever, and i don't mind. i'm glad they were gracious enough to answer and advise me. if they need to hang up when we're talking, same thing.

ahh, technology
