As per my blog, it seems that a few people may enjoy joining my diet club.

Anyone is welcome and its free to join.

Some of us start our diets today,

Lets share recipes, be a support to each other, be there when we're temped to fail....

Im going to start this by saying I intend to reduce my carb intake, increase my fruit and veg intake and drink LOTS of water!

This time next Monday, we can report and say how many pounds we lost.

Water packed tuna with plain yogurt and sunflower seeds, on any kind of whole grain bread, tortilla or pita with sprouts...

Charlie you should link your blog to the thread so that all of the information there can be easily accessed...

My daughters waldorf salad recipe.

Apples, after you cube then toss some lemon juice on them so they don't discolor.
Some walnuts if you don't mind the fat from nuts.
Dried cranberries or raisens.
Celery.
Use Non-Fat vanilla yogurt for the dressing, if it is to tangy for you use some artificial sweetner to taste.
I can't take the chemicals from the sweetners so I use a touch of honey, or agave nectar.

Omegas Olive oil is too...flax seeds too...flax seeds you can buy ground up (if you don't have a grinder) and put them in cereals, on salads and in just about anything.

For dessert Ill have a few grapes.

For breakfast tomorrow, Im having a fruit smoothie of melon grapefruit and kiwi. all fresh of course, but I think you can buy smoothies, but you have to watch the sugar they add.

Well, I'm already posting in the MD Weight Loss Support Group, but what the hey, here goes!

1st - Best of luck in the journey Charli, but don't forget that it's ALL about the journey. If you go for 'x' amount of pounds, you'll be on the yoyo thing for life. If you can modify your diet in ways you can live with, and get the exercise by doing things you enjoy - you're fit for life!

By the way, I've done it before and I'm doing it again, hoping that I won't slip back into my old habits. I've been in a monitored program since January, lost only about 20 pounds but little by little I'm getting around my biggest roadblock - exercise! I'm not a binge eater or anything approaching it, but I'm both a couch and a computer 'tater. It's 5:09 PM here right now and I'm promising myself I'll be off here and in my bathing suit doing water aerobics by 6. The program is for a pill that's going to be a replacement for Fen Phen, so I'm having regular echocardiagrams to monitor heart action (so far, excellent) and depression's reported as a side effect (no probloem), with monthly reviews of my food journals with a professional dietician. Great program, and they actually pay me to participate. The biggest thing I hear from my dietician is to eat what I love, just watch portion size and avoid all-carb meals. I used to have cereal and fruit, which she asked me to change to include protein.

Meals today:

Breakfast - Jimmy Dean Light biscuit, egg white, turkey sausage and cheese, plus a banana - 260 calories (my dietician from the program really likes this one)

Lunch - Chef's salad - 1 egg, turkey, cheese, tomatoes, romaine, with light Ranch. I'm guessing 250 calories.

Dinner - don't know exactly yet, but probably chicken, baked sweet potato with cinnamon, mixed veggies with beans - probably 300 calories tops.

Exercise - already walked about a mile (too hot for more) and expect to do about half an hour of aquajogging.

If I get the munchies, I'll probably have a piece of cheese and some fruit.

if you buy milled flax seed, you can sprinkle it on cereal, or just about anything. I put it in my food every day.

Oh, and the Essene (I see it sold here as Ezekiel) bread is available in Kroger supermarkets in the freezer section with organic products like 'Amy's' brand.

p.s. don't forget some dairy in your smoothie to slow down the glycemic hit from the fruit!
